Hey I just wanted to share something I have found.. for those who cannot stand gaviscon or it just simply doesn’t work! Try cream soda ! I honestly swear by it.. it works instantly and it tastes good ! The ingredients say Acidity Regulator (sodium citrates) although not all of them have it. The brands I have found that work are Ben Shaws.. Sainsbury’s own and Tesco’s own. I know they are full of sugar and not the best for you but it really has helped me through this heart burn ! I am 29+5 weeks and have suffered quite a long time with it and now I feel like a new person ! Hope this helps those who want to try xx

Thank you for this! I will definitely give it a try because that gaviscon shite my OH got for me makes me
Feel sick 😂

jellycrumble · 12/04/2018 17:35

Oh my God. Thank you!! I have the liquid Gaviscon and it makes me gag terribly as it's so thick and chalky ... even the thought of it makes me feel sick! Envy I'm also 29 weeks so I'll give anything a go!

ClangerTwanger · 12/04/2018 17:56

Know what you
Mean with the chalkyness! I’ve got the Sainsbury’s own one too and that’s just as bad!

Ask doctor for Omeperazole- works miracles and it's safe in pregnancy.
The other one is Lansoperazole which is script only too.

Midwife maybe able to prescribe it

Smurfybubbles · 12/04/2018 19:11

I was drinking milk like it was going out of fashion until my midwife pointed out it could be making it worse Confused stopped drinking it and my heartburn eased massively!

I was eating Rennies like they were going out of fashion. I had heartburn to the extent where it felt like my skull was on fire. Grim.

MadAssHatter · 12/04/2018 19:18

Orange rennies were my life saver in later pregnancy. They taste almost nice, unlike the regular ones and gaviscon which are horrible

MilfordFound · 12/04/2018 19:23

I was constantly swigging gaviscon, always eating, always uncomfortable... until I started taking omeprazole. The difference is like night and day! Haven't had any gaviscon since, haven't had a single twinge of heartburn. I wish I'd started it as soon as the heartburn started. I've been constantly eating for months in order to never let my stomach get empty as heartburn would be unbearable... now I don't need to and it's been an eye opener about how much I've been eating and how it could've all been avoided!

MyKingdomForBrie · 12/04/2018 19:24

You can buy omeperazole over the counter in boots. I’m amazed a fizzy drink helps would never have thought of that!

FrozenMargarita17 · 12/04/2018 19:29

I was popping tums like nobody's business!!

CW166 · 13/04/2018 00:40

I wish I new about all these other things before ! I got told gaviscon and that’s it.. I can’t stand the stuff ! The cream soda was at a party.. I was going to leave early the heart burn was so bad but it went.. so I back tracked and found this and it’s worked ever since ! I really hope it works for you guys too ! X
