Hunger pains instead of morning sickness?

I'm only six weeks and have a mahoossive appetite. Can eat a proper meal and within an hour or so, my stomach is growling and empty again. Waking up in the middle of the night and stomach growling so hard it hurts and have to get up to eat. Sometimes feel a bit queasy after eating and only once thought I'd be sick, after I was starving and drank some water, but nothing came out.

Has anyone else had this, pains and stomach growling instead of nausea? How do you manage? I'm trying to eat smaller bits throughout the day but still feel starving. I don't generally have such an appetite so this is quite a change for me.

Yes I had that. Starving hungry all the time.

How do you manage? Can't imagine carrying on like this for another nine months, I'll be a blimp!

I had intense nausea instead of normal hunger sensation for my entire pregnancy (from 5 weeks), at its worst if I didn't eat for more than 2 hours I threw up (slightly longer at night... Glass of milk at 11pm and again at 3-4am then breakfast). It was pretty grim, and I was on cyclyzine the whole pregnancy, but it went away instantly after giving birth, and I have felt amazing since having DD (9 weeks ago).

12 weeks here. This has just passed for me, I realised the other day I’d only had breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of my usual 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and dinner! It’s horrible, but it will improve... I type as I go in search or a bowl of cereal Wink

surreygirl1987 · 11/04/2018 22:22

I'm almost 16 weeks and still have this! I need to eat constantly! But I am struggling with my usual large meal sizes as get full faster. I feel sick if I don't eat anything for an hour or two! Luckily haven't put in too much weight but reeeeally.hope this stops soon!

I had a banana on my bedside table to eat before I got up when I was pregnant. Had loads of snacks during the day as well. No nausea at all. Luckily I lost weight very quickly while BFing.

wombats · 11/04/2018 22:41

Yes, I also feel full quicky. I reckon it's better than being sick constantly but I feel like a black hole Shock Banana by the bed sounds reasonable, did it help you fall back asleep? Thought my snack would help but was back in bed craving gherkins and wondering if I should go back to the kitchen for a second round Blush

Oatcakes. Something that will last longer. Bananas are good.

I have the constant nausea AND hunger which is a bloody nightmare. I feel sick and find the thought of most food offputting yet I am hungry beyond belief, I do also feel the hunger pangs when I wake up in the middle of the night to pee. It’s horrible. I am going through about five bowls of Rice Krispies a day atm Blush.

wombats · 11/04/2018 23:05

Madeira, I'll try the oatcakes, thanks. Pink, you poor thing! How many weeks are you? It sounds like this might get better around 12-15 weeks?

I've had this too! Sometimes though both nausea and hunger at the same time.... I'll be really hungery but nausea/food aversion mean I don't want to eat anything!

Tentomidnight · 12/04/2018 07:58

I had this. Evil gmawing hunger oangs 25/7. I had to keep foof next to the bed and bread in my bag/desk at work.
It calmed down in the. 2nd trimester but came back in the 3rd.

Tentomidnight · 12/04/2018 07:59

*Hunger pangs 24/7, though felt like 25/7 Grin

aetw · 12/04/2018 08:17

Mine still started in hunger at six weeks then by the week seven nausea. Returning back to hunger now at 13 weeks but I have had that awful waking in the night because my body has run out of food. It’s horrible and leaves me feeling really shaky. I’ve had oat cakes which are good, muesli bars, and bananas. Sometimes I need an instant hit with a fruit smoothie if I feel really shaky. Good luck op! Xx

I remember pulling bits of lamb off a leftover roast in the fridge. With my hands. And stuffing it in my face.
It did ease off a bit but there were still 4pm subway meatball marinaras sometimes.

wombats · 12/04/2018 13:45

Laughing at the lamb roast, Dragons, I'm almost there! Today, growling empty stomach has turned into burning aching stomach with mild nausea behind it, still relieved by food. I feel shaky, too aetw, bit like a hangover. Trying to snack frequently...

With my first pregnancy I got so hungry from week 6 and nausea followed at week 8. With my second the nausea and terrible hunger arrived together at 5 weeks. Its a very strange state to be in!
