Driving myself mad with pregnancy symptoms and no HCG

Hi,

First off I'd like to say I'm not a Mum yet, though very broody (since I began getting these symptoms, oddly enough) and this all started after an incident of unprotected sex in early Feb this year.

I was on desogestrel, but am not entirely sure I didn't miss one or two pills in that month since I wasn't regularly sexually active I only really took them to stop my period.

After that day I didn't notice anything until what I thought was spotting, which isn't weird when on this pill but I noted it anyway. Later I got incredibly bloated and constipated for about 2 weeks (and it comes back sometimes) and began worrying that I was pregnant.

I've taken 5 cheapy strip tests from amazon, and two tesco own tests to find out if I'm pregnant but all were negative. Since the 11 March I also stopped taking my desogestrel and have yet to get my period but still have itchy, sore nipples (not boobs), flaking nipples too that often 'stick out' now but never really did before, some period-like abdomen pain, occasional constipation/bloating and my stomach looks rather... podgy.

I'm driving myself absolutely insane with all this, having read several threads where people have had no HCG far into their pregnancies and still been pregnant. I know I ought to wait and see if my period comes because it's only been a month but I can remember missing pills and getting a few days of period way quicker than this I'm sure.

I would just like some reassurance either way - have you ever had low/no hcg and been pregnant still? Were you pregnant without knowing? Did you just FEEL pregnant? Or am I being dumb?

You're not pregnant. You just really want to be. Go easy on yourself.

IAmMatty · 12/04/2018 08:35

You can't be pregnant with hcg.

I would, if I were you, get to the doctor about the bloating, stomach pain etc though.

Take it easy. Smile

Without hcg!

Oh how I wish for an edit button.

I would go and see your doctor - sounds like you have a hormonal issue going on. Many pregnancy symptoms are caused by changes to levels of oestrogen and progesterone, not hcg, and I’m not sure what sort of pill that is but could definitely be related to what you’re experiencing

When I stopped the pill it took 54 days for my period to come back and they have since been regular and I have conceived (with HCG) since. I echo @IAmMatty in thinking you should get to the GP to rule out hormonal issues although it could just be ‘settling after stopping the pill’ symptoms you are experiencing.

I also agree with @Jamoncrumpets it sounds like you really want to be pregnant and that’s a very hard feeling to deal with.

All the best for the future. Flowers

Pregnancy symptoms often mirror PMS type symptoms so it’s not uncommon to have them when you aren’t pregnant. I think the fact you also really want to be pregnant is possibly causing a level of psychosomatic disorder. Go see your GP Flowers

It's impossible to be pregnant without HCG. Presence of HCG in your system literally defines the state of being pregnant. A very small number of women don't have a detectable level of HCG in their urine until they are several weeks pregnant, but it is still in their blood.

This just sounds like post-pill symptoms of rebalancing hormones tbh.
