They didn't tell me the heart rate

Little disappointed today that they didn't tell me the heart rate number. We heard it and saw it but didn't get the number. It looked like it was going reasonably fast.

Did you ask?

HavingaPanda · 11/04/2018 18:37

Did they not write it in your notes?

Couchpotato3 · 11/04/2018 18:37

Why do you want to know?

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/04/2018 18:39

I didn't ask and I was too overwhelmed and only thought after.

Nothing in notes about it. Just says heart beat seen.

Which appt was it? If 12 week scan, 16 week mw, 20 week scan they won't always. In my area it's definitely noted at each appt from 24 week cons or mw onwards. You could have asked if you're interested though.

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/04/2018 18:49

It was 12 week scan. I know, I wish I had.

I don’t think it’s important enough for them to divulge the information if it’s normal. Just ask next time if you’re upset about it

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/04/2018 18:56

Thanks, I'm not upset as such, just thought it might be in the notes.

Crown to rump measurement 60.8mm though.

I don't know if it varies by area but at my trust they don't count or record the BPM of the heartbeat at scans, just says FH seen on the scan report. When the midwife listens in with a sonicaid at later appointments, that's when they note down the BPM.

SoyDora · 11/04/2018 19:17

I can’t remember if I was ever told the heart rate in either of my pregnancies. Do you need the information for something?

HollowTalk · 11/04/2018 19:19

I used the heart rate to work out that my baby was a boy!

SparklyMagpie · 11/04/2018 19:20

I was only told when they checked heartbeat at 16 weeks

Why do you need to know OP?

I've not heard of being told heart rate at 12 week scans, actually I don't think I was told at 20 week scan either

BertieBotts · 11/04/2018 19:21

I've never been told, just that it's in a healthy range :)

SoyDora · 11/04/2018 19:21

Ah yes I remember being told mine was a boy based on the heart rate.
She’s definitely a girl Grin.

GuntyMcGee · 11/04/2018 19:34

They wouldn't have counted heart rate at the scan.
At 16 weeks onwards the midwife will offer to listen in and that's when they'll count it and probably document it in your notes.
