Please help me allay latest paranoia

OK. I know I'm being ridiculous. I have:

1. a sharpish ache that comes and goes in my left shoulderblade
2. twinges that come and go on either side of my pelvis

And no other symptoms. But have convinced myself nonetheless that pregnancy is ectopic.

I'm 7+6wks. Please come and tell me I'm stupid before I drive myself completely over the edge.

Fleacircus, probably not what you want to hear on a Fri night, but it is always worth getting any concerns checked out. Is there an EPU that you can go to tomorrow morning?
As I am sure you know shoulderpain is one of the signs of ectopic, but it doesn't always mean that it is.

Hopefully someone who can help more will be along soon.

I felt the same kind of feelings at the same stage - my shoulder was really sore and felt the twinges. I had it checked and all was fine and i'm now 18 weeks preg.

I think you should get it check out, if you don't you will just keep worrying about it and thats not good for you or the baby.

My understanding is that by the time it is shoulder pain the pain in unbearable. However, there are a few cases where this was not the case. I would get it checked out. Also diarraha is another sympton (I also had shoulder pain and aches - but I am 11 weeks and I think it is all in the mind - once you start reading you convince yourself or all kinds of horrid things)

Thanks for replying - I know I'm being stupid but I'm glad to be humoured! I did some reading on the shoulderblade pain and it seems like that can be referred from the pelvis or the diaphragm as well as sometimes being a sign of ectopic. Also if it's ectopic it's usually just one side and I'm getting it on both. I've had quite a bit of aching and pulling sensations in my hips so I think it's possibly linked to that. I'm looking into getting an earlier scan privately as I don't want to waste the EPU or my GP's time unnecessarily but am feeling less anxious now. Thanks again for helping to put my mind at ease!

Forgot to say, I did phone NHS Direct and speak to the local out of hours doctor and they both seemed to think that it's nothing to worry about.

Finally crept out of denial. Started very slight spotting yesterday and called midwives service; they told me to go to A&E. Neck of womb is still closed but they couldn't do a scan straight away so have booked me in for a scan on Monday afternoon. Feel so awful today; there's been no more blood and the pains aren't getting any worse but I'm beside myself with anxiety about it. To make matters worse I had a meeting with my boss today and had to tell him about the pregnancy; there are staffing issues for next year so I wanted to give him as much notice as possible. Managed to keep it together while talking to him but am absolutely on the brink. Why didn't I listen to you all earlier? If I'd gone to A&E last week I would've had the scan by now and at least I'd know. Stupid ostrich.

Oh fleacircus am so sorry you have all this worry. Dont beat yourself up about not doing anything earlier. The spotting may still be nothing... Try to stay calm until next Monday and take it easy!

Thanks for kind wishes. Still no more blood and pains coming and going, so am feeling a bit more hopeful (or back in denial, but until Monday afternoon I might as well stay here!).
