Food! With DS1 I got on the ward at 6pm after 40 hours of labour and nothing to eat only to be told I had missed dinner and would get something the next morning Confused

With DD, I packed my phone, nightie, couple of nappies, sleepsuit for the baby and as many packets of chocolate hobnobs I could cram in my bag!

Clothes:
15 sleepsuits and vests (usually sold in 3pks and I work on the basis of needing 2 a day and I hate doing washing)
Assuming your having a summer baby (?) So a lightweight jacket rather than a all in one pramsuit

Equipment
Baby carseat
Lie flat pram
Cotbed- better value for money over time then a cot as will turn into toddler bed. Mattress and 4x sheets
Sleepyhead- absolute lifesaver
Blankets- I used to have 2x in the nursery, 1x downstairs and 1x in the car.
Baby swing- DD used to love hers but would try get 1 second hand just in case
6x bottles, bottle brush and steriliser. I had a perfrct prep machine as well but not necessary and depends on your budget

Hospital bag- depends how many visitors you will have who will have access to yours. Assuming you will daily- i wouldn't take much. Something for after labour, sleepsuit and vest and blanket for baby and then any other personal bits you want. I just got DH to bring fresh stuff in everyday.

Biggest thing for me was food. For you and partner. I had my DS at 8pm and didn't get fed until 8am luckily I had loads of cereal bars to keep me going. Also hospitals don't feed partners at mealtimes (well mine doesn't!) and energy drink or squash. I took those little pots of Robinson's squash drops. Got bored of water all night and day.

also lots and lots of big maternity pads. My midwife told me to double up and use two at a time so hubby had to buy more for me.

Fresh pair of clothes for after birth shower.
Flip flops or slip on slippers for waking around the ward. (No bending required!)
Hair bands
Face wipes and deodorant.
Magazine

Along with all the normal bits. These are the ones that stand out for me that might be forgotten

Glucose tablets. I wasn't allowed to eat anything for over 30 hours, all they'd let me have were bloody glucose tablets, I was so grateful for them!
