Dizziness

Hi everyone,

Only 6 weeks but have had nausea for a week or so. However the last couple of days and today particularly I feel so dizzy.

Any idea how I could combat this? I'm trying to eat regularly and drink lots but I'm feeling so bad and worried that it's going to really hinder work (currently on holiday) and looking after DD (4).

Help! Please!

Are you getting enough iron?

Rachie1986 · 10/04/2018 19:15

Maybe.. but how would I know?

Spoke to Dr (was there about something unrelated) and he just gave me some pills for the nausea and dizziness if I need them... Hmm.

Get your iron levels tested. I felt weak and dizzy and sure enough my iron levels were very low. Do it asap .

P.s. mine was a twin pregnancy too .... have you had a scan yet?? Don't want to freak you out though!

In the meantime take a pregnancy vitamin if you're not already and add spinach to everything.

My midwife told me to make sure I drank enough water so as not to feel dizzy.

Rachie1986 · 10/04/2018 20:28

Drinking water is helping, currently drinking tons!

Haven't had a scan yet. Worried about twins but don't really have money for extra scan.

Don't remember the dizziness with DD.

Also pregnancy vitamins made me feel even worse last time. Would a normal vitamin help? I am taking folic acid

Right, read up and I can't just take iron supplement or regular multivitamin because too much iron and vit a is dangerous.

So I could call Dr tomorrow, but I already saw him today and 2 weeks ago!
Booking in not for another 2.5weekx and do they do bloods then?

Could try and increase iron rich foods myself and see if I notice a difference?

A lot of people find pregnancy vitamins make them sick unless they take them in the evening. There's liquid versions as well.

Otherwise yes just increase the iron in your diet. Spinach is the easiest one because you can put it in things like lasagne and curry and it shrinks down to nothing. But obviously other leafy greens meat work too.

Thanks Clare. Will look at pregnancy vitamins again and get on the spinach and iron rich foods (what a shame chocolate isn't.. although if it were there wouldn't be a chance I was low in iron!!)

I don't know what you mean OP?! Pretty sure chocolate is a magic pregnancy aid that solves all ills! ☺️
