Passed huge blood clot...

Hi all. I'm 9+3 and have already been to EPAU for bleeding at 6 weeks. It was all fine and eased off and no sign of it for two weeks or so. Last night and this morning however I passed two big red clots of blood (bigger than I've ever seen in any period). Nothing else, no other bleeding, when I put my finger inside to have a feel it comes out completely clean. I was at the doctors yesterday for morning sickness, and have booked another appointment for this morning (doc is not going to be happy to see me two days in a row I can imagine!). Is this something I should worry about when I've already had a scan? Should I push for another scan? I'm going out of my mind as I've had two miscarriages before. Really terrified...

I passed huge blood clots early in pregnancy, some as big as my hand. I hope it all works out OK for you OP x

ObiJuanKenobi · 10/04/2018 11:34

Thinking of you Op Thanks

Caramina · 10/04/2018 11:36

@TheMythicalChicken thank you. Do you mind me asking... where they just clots on their own with no other bleeding? I have passed two big clots but other than that have had no other bleeding at all. It's so worrying.

Thank you @ObiJuanKenobi

TheMythicalChicken · 10/04/2018 11:45

Caramina, they were just clots, no other bleeding. They were called 'subchorionic haematoma'. I had never heard of this before, but then suddenly I heard of loads of people who had them.

Caramina · 10/04/2018 11:56

@TheMythicalChicken exactly the same as me.

I've been booked in for 10:40 at EPAU tomorrow so fingers crossed it will all be ok Sad

Thinking of you Caramina. If it is a haematoma, you should be on bed rest. If you are able to go straight to bed now and stay there until you go to the doctors, I would do so.

From Wikipedia: "In one study women who complied with instructions for bed rest for the duration of bleeding had a lower rate of miscarriage and a higher rate of term pregnancy than non-compliant women."

Caramina · 10/04/2018 12:15

@TheMythicalChicken what a stress. Doc was lovely and really helpful. Said to take it very easy. Wish DP could come with me tomorrow but he has his daughter who unfortunately has chicken pox! Sad I'll be seeing baby without him...

Is there anyone who could (or you would want there) go with you in DPs absence?

LampHat · 10/04/2018 12:39

Sending all good wishes for tomorrow OP Flowers

Caramina · 10/04/2018 12:39

@ObiJuanKenobi literally nobody. I live a city away from my friends who are all working tomorrow or don't drive. My family are 300 miles away. I'm not close to his family. Nobody knows I am pregnant yet. I had to go on my own to the 6 week scan too when I had a bleed before. Feels like the 12 week scan, if we make it that far, won't be as special as I will have seen baby twice already. Pregnancy hasn't been what I thought it would be so far...

Can you describe the blood clots OP? We’re they bright red/dark red/grey in colour? Do you still have all your symptoms?

I think it could be a haematoma but obviously a scan will confirm either way. I am praying for good news for you 💐

Caramina · 10/04/2018 12:46

@SleepFreeZone bright red, bigger than a 50p, like a clot you'd have in your period but much bigger. I have symptoms (morning sickness, sore nipples, fatigue).

Thank you for your kind words. Fingers toes and everything crossed.

Please don't worry too much. I had this happen in both my pregnancies. It was fine scary but fine

Littlemisssugarplum88 · 11/04/2018 08:18

Hope all goes well for you OP.
I have my fingers crossed 🤞🏻xx

Caramina · 11/04/2018 09:13

Thanks @Littlemisssugarplum88 - I'm so nervous. I've convinced myself that big blood clots can only be a bad thing. Terrified actually. Fingers crossed all ok...

Caramina I have had good and bad outcomes from blood loss inc clots during pregnancy. You need to ensure when you go for your scan to take your partner with you. I truly hope it's a positive outcome for you.

Caramina · 11/04/2018 09:17

@spacecadet48 thank you. I unfortunately am going on my own. No fault of his. His DD has chicken pox and he can't take her anywhere near a hospital, especially EPAU full of pregnant ladies. She's in pain and needs her dad so just me going to scan, sadly.

I had several clots the size that the embryo would have been at the time and bigger. I’m now 12w1d and had a scan yesterday, everything fine.
