Swollen ankle - I know it can be normal but when does it start being a 'problem'

I noticed last night that my left ankle had ballooned - very attractive. By this morning it had gone down but now it has flared up again. I know one does swell during pregnancy but it is just the one ankle which seems a bit odd. Should I be looking for other signs for something that could be potentially more serious or is it just being pregnant?

make sure the mw keeps an eye on your bp
its just oedema, when you are sitting down PUT YOUR FEET UP TOO
but it can be a sign of more

Victoria I have this too and had it for a while, now 37 weeks. you have to try as much to keep it elevated. I also only have it in my left leg and it pits when pressed. Have been to dr's had it checked twice as midwife was concerned but it's just normal odema.

I would if poss just let your GP have one look as they worry about clots but I am sure it will be fine. Keep an eye on your fingers too.

Ok thanks. I'll see how it goes this weekend and then I might see the quack next week just to check my BP - which is normally spot on - but you never can tell. Just as long as my leg doesn't fall off, I think I'll be ok!
