Hi just wondering if anyone else had the problem of being 40 weeks and not being able to have the sweep.? My midwife said she could feel babies head but my cervix was still to far back to do anything with. I am booked in for an induction next week but I wanted to be able to go into labour naturally this time round, has anyone any advice or anything similar. Thanks 🙂

Hi, with my first I was due to have my sweep on the wednesday at 40 weeks and same thing happened to me. Went in to labour the following Monday all on my own so there is still hope!

Well I had a show a couple hours ago and so much cramping! Especially in my back. Maybe it’s the start maybe it’s not.. Won’t be getting hopes up though.

Just wanted to wish you luck!! Hope this is the start of something for you! Xx

Best of luck. Mine said the same at 42 weeks. I had the baby naturally within 24 hours (was a second baby). These things can change very quickly.

this happened to me at 40weeks unsuccessful sweep attemt then went into labour at 41 naturally.
my friend had a unsuccessful attempt at a sweep and went into labour the next day. it can change so fast

I had two unsuccessful sweeps and then the third worked. I was due to be induced on a Monday and had my third sweep on the Friday morning previous to that. Went into labour at 8pm. Approx 12 hours after sweep.
I think it was the sweep that did it, but then again it could have been the 2 mile power walk, 2 bathroom floor scrubbings, stair hoovering, gym ball bouncing, nipple hand pump
Stimulation, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, or the sex that did it too!! I was determined that I would try everything possible to make baby come without needing induced if possible, and it worked. Good luck.

Get on your gym ball and lean forward slightly to encourage the babies head to put pressure in the right place - Good luck!

Midwife said same to me at 40+10. Daughter arrived 12 hours later of her own accord

I had failed sweeps with no.2.

No.2 I had few failed sweeps, ended up induced at 42 weeks.

No.3 was early induction with no attempted sweeps, although midwife could feel baby's head but my cervix was still far back at 4cm.

Might be a tad late but start taking raspberry leaf tea, it'll help soften your cervix. Also go on a loooooong walk. And use a yoga ball, and get bouncing :) I also went mad doing squats lol. X
