Itchy feet

Arrrrrrgggggh.

My heels and the sides of my feet have become crazy itchy and at 38+5 I'm in no state to bend and scratch.

I'm giving myself carpet burns trying to ease it.

Please tell me this won't last another three weeks!

I've no idea but what about putting cold water in a baby bath and sticking your feet in. I do it to bring the swelling down. Or calomine lotion.

orangesandpeaches · 09/04/2018 10:45

Please ring your midwife now.

FairfaxAikman · 09/04/2018 10:45

They aren't swollen, just itchy. It comes and goes but when it's full flow I've been rubbing my feet on the carpet but it burns them.

I remember someone saying you should ring if you had itchy feet in pregnancy.

It g in pregnancy can be a sign of cholestasis. Lots of people have a generalized itch in their bump or all over which is usually harmless but itch on the palms of hands and soles of feet is more associated with cholestasis which is a liver condition. You need to be seen ASAP and have bloods taken to diagnose this. If diagnosed there is treatment and baby will need close monitoring. Also they usually will induce labour early if it is cholestasis. Don't mean to frighten you but you really should get checked out today. It may well not be this but important to find out.
Good luck

You definitely need to see your midwife today. Your liver could be struggling.

expatmigrant · 09/04/2018 11:11

Don't want to alarm you but I developed cholestasis.
Heed the advice and call your midwife.

BossWitch · 09/04/2018 11:13

I was told at my booking in appointment that itchy hands and feet is a "call in" symptom. You should give the midwife a call so that they can check on you.

I got numbness in my heels around 35 weeks that sometimes felt really itchy. Baby is 5 months old now and I still have it but it's nowhere near as bad. I presumed it was to do with fluid.

pannikin · 09/04/2018 11:44

Yes please ring your midwife! I don't know why people just put that without telling you why, but it's because obstetric cholestasis can cause itchy feet and hands. They will most likely want to induce you for that as it can be dangerous. Better to be on the safe side! Flowers

I went in and had bloods taken. MW said it was rare to get the liver thing so late but at least it's being tested.

Thanks everyone
