C- section scar - anything I can do to it to prepare it for poss VBAC?

It will be just over two years from my first c-section when baby number 2 is due. I'm considering a VBAC and wondered if there were any creams etc that I could use to prepare my scar for the trauma! I'm currently 13 weeks and it's already starting to twinge occasionally.

I had a VBAC and had no problems relating to the scar on my skin - what types of problem are you thinking may occur?
There is nothing you can do, as far as I know, about the scar on your uterus and that's the one which is under stress during labour.
Good luck with the VBAC..my top tip is 'stay labouring at home for as long as you can bear..once you get to hospital you'll most likely to be tied to a fetal monitor' (although mine had leads long enough that I could still sit on a birthing ball)

no, interesting, in as much as i have never heard of those tips, and VBAC is a favourite topic of mine.....i had never really thought about preparing the scar in any way, especially as it is the uterus that needs preparing, if possible more than the skin..i like learning new stuff!

You don't need to prepare your scar at all IMO. The only 'risks' to do with your scar and VBAC are to the internal scar, not the external one. And you can't rub rosehip oil on that!

Thinks....would raspberry leaf tea/tablets used to tone the uterus in late pregnancy have a positive effect on a c-section scar as well?
