I had no cravings, sickness or anythign when pregnant with DS1 but so far this pregnany has been quite different. I'm only 11 weeks but I cant stand the sight/smell/taste of vegetables.
I'm a tad concerned as even if I wasn't pregnant it would worry me to not eat veg so I'm extra concerned now.
I know it may diminish but is there any supplement that i should take perhaps in the meantime. Or does anyone have a magic cure for getting me over this pathetic hurdle?

thanks all

Could you disguise them? eg sede in mashed potato, or try any vegeatble like sweetcorn etc. Are you off fruit and salad cos if not you'll probably make up nutrients eating plenty of that!

i have gone off meat (very unusual for me), seem to be living on veggies.

I was the same - broccoli used to make me heave! I just let it go and ate loads of fruit instead. By the second trimester I was back on cooked veg again, but my heightened sense of smell still makes me suspicious of bags of salad!

I've never touched a vitamin supplement and my bloods (iron etc) have always been fine.

Do you find your drains are 'apparently' really smelly as well? I think I'm single handedly supporting the bleach industry!

mckenzie - I hardly ate anything that was green or remotely healthy for me up until 13 weeks or so, and now can't get enough of fresh salads and vegetables. You could take a prenatal vitamin/supplement if you're worried, some also have folic acid in them as well.

vict17, perhaps I'll have to ask DH to prepare them and see if I can then just eat them with my eyes closed and holding my nose (picture that if you dare ). Actually, I'd find it quite hard to picture DH preparing any vegetables some to that.

I'm still enjoying a wide range of fruit and salad seems not to affect me so I'll hope that it doesn't last and not worry I think, based on what you good mumsnetters and telling me.

thanks all

Me too! And I'm vegetarian, so have been literally living off veggies for the last 14 years. Now I can't bear brocolli or cauliflower, I can just about stomach peas and sweetcorn, but in small amounts, and pretty much every other veg is out. I've been living off fruit, wholegrain bread and cottage cheese... oh, and mint aeros

I'm hoping this will pass because I am missing the variety I used to have, but feel healthy enough, and don't appear to be suffering health-wise as i'm eating tonnes more fruit than I used to. Glad it's not just me!
