Sleeping on front, third trimester

HI
I keep finding myself lying on my front when I wake up, or am dropping off to sleep.

This may sound funny but is it safe for baby?

I've got a pillow to stop me lying on my back but I somehow manage to snuggle into it so I am sleeping on my tum!

31+ weeks currently

I’m 38 weeks and keep waking up on my front no matter what I do with pillow arrangement. I have no idea about the dangers to scared to google!

I googled the other day. Said it was fine, but was mainly chat forums rather than anything medical.

In essence you'll wake up before anything bad would happen from the discomfort as babies are well protected.

Nothing wrong with it, wish I still could, can't wait to sleep on my front again!

I’m 32 weeks and slept on my tummy quite regularly but now it’s suddenly uncomfortable so I’m assuming that’s my body telling me not to do it any more.

Unfortunately I wake up on my back every morning despite numerous pillow arrangements so I’m not following the side sleeping advice (despite my best efforts!) but am trying not to worry about it - I’m trusting my body that it knows what it’s doing!

I'm 30 weeks and still sleeping on my front. I went to a fitness in pregnancy class run by a physiotherapist at the hospital a few weeks ago and asked about this and she said it's fine, baby is cushioned in a sack of water, you can't squash it.

How can you possibly lie on top of your bump without noticing?! Don’t you feel like you have climbed onto a (small) Swiss ball which happens to have come with an internal organ compressor?

RosaBaby2 · 06/04/2018 11:22

I think it’s fine, I’m 35+6 and it’s the most comfortable way to sleep, so sick of sleeping on my side. I sleep with one leg sort of raised at the side to support the bump.

GottaBeStrong · 07/04/2018 00:19

I sleep on side front if that makes sense. I wedge a soft blanket under me to cushion the bump and like Rosa I find myself using my leg to also support me. If she kicks then I move to on my side but I find on my side painful on my hips after a while.

ForeverHopeful21 · 07/04/2018 16:46

I slept fully on my front until 32 weeks, and now at 38 weeks I sleep semi on my front (running man style) leaning in to the mattress.
I use a pillow to keep top leg raised so that it creates a bit more space for bump.

How on earth did you sleep on your bumps in the third trimester?! I couldn't imagine it being comfortable, but if it is I imagine it's fine.

FranticallyPeaceful · 07/04/2018 17:23

Honestly I’d feel like my insides were bursting if I did this! But its probably perfectly safe and if you can do it then go for it tbh

GottaBeStrong · 07/04/2018 19:21

My bump is on the smaller side I think - I'm measuring bang on but have been told it's very neat so perhaps that helps.
