37 WEEKS TOMORROW!

Officially 'full term' and counting down the days Grin

Anyone else feel like they're on the home stretch?

I've had words with the bump and we're in agreement that anywhere between 38 and 39 weeks will be acceptable. 42 weeks will not.

37+6 here and I have no idea how I am going to keep going for very much longer - spd is so bad today that I think I need to just give up walking any distance at all! And getting up once an hour in the night with a horrible cough means i feel like the baby's here already! I'm sure i remember feeling better at this point last time around...

FHNick · 07/04/2018 05:23

Can I join? I'm 38 weeks with second child and so impatient. Have been off work for a week and so bored already. Got incredibly painful back, inner thighs and pelvis but don't feel like she is coming anytime soon because she still seems so active. Went 42 weeks with my first and literally don't think I can cope with another 4 weeks of pregnancy. Especially because everyone constantly says enjoy this time, relax etc. Pretty hard to relax when you are so uncomfortable and can't get any sleep!!

FHNick · 07/04/2018 05:24

Sorry for the massive moan !!

Shanners123 · 07/04/2018 11:02

Pregnancy is quite clever isn't it.. I was terrified about labour but its getting to the point where I'm actively trying to bring it on just to get my body back to myself and stop all the aches and pains!!

Anyone tried hand expressing? I want to feel like I know how to do it before baby comes but feel silly sitting in bed trying it.. Especially when no colostrum is forthcoming! Hmm

Cloudwalk · 07/04/2018 14:11

@Shanners123 I have been hand expressing for a week or so, hasn't induced me (due date is tomorrow and baby is still very much in there) and have managed to get only a few drops out but good to get some practise in

emvy · 07/04/2018 14:21

FHNick, never be sorry! It’s a tough old journey this pregnancy thing and we’ve very much had our fair share of it now we’re at the end!

I’ve not tried expressing. Apparently you have to do it three times a day for it to actually induce labour! I also read someone gave themselves mastitis even before their baby was born by overdoing it! I guess it’s good to do it a little so you know what you’re doing when baby arrives as you say but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I think my milk is only just properly beginning to come in anyway as boobs have been heavier and fuller the past couple of days.

39+1 now. Baby still comfy 🤨

Shanners123 · 07/04/2018 15:08

cloudwalk was there a website / guide you found most useful for technique? And how many times had you tried it before there was colostrum?

Aspenn17 · 07/04/2018 15:58

I went to a breastfeeding class at our local hospital and they gave us 4 little 1ml syringes and said we could start trying after 37 weeks. I’ve managed to do 3 so far which are now in the freezer but I noticed my colostrum had started ages ago, maybe around 28 weeks? It’s hardly anything though, just little drips. Took me maybe 3 x 30 min sessions to get 1ml. But it’s done nothing to bring on labour!

Aspenn17 · 07/04/2018 16:01

@shanners this is the technique they showed us in the class...

Cloudwalk · 07/04/2018 16:29

@Shanners123 I ended up being shown by my midwife who also gave us some tiny syringes to collect it and used the same technique as the video shows.

It took probably 4 goes before we saw anything!!! dp actually helped as I have terrible swollen hands and carpel tunnel and he got the first bit out.

I should also mentioned I had a breast reduction many years ago so wanted to really make sure I could still do it. Cried an absolute river when we saw a few drops appear!!!

Shanners123 · 07/04/2018 17:02

Oh wow, thank you ladies! That's really useful. I won't feel disheartened then if it takes a good few goes! Wonder if my hospital will give me some syringes at my 40 week apt if I ask them nicely Hmm

Been keeping active this afternoon and then was planning to go for a quick walk but the blooming rain is back AGAIN! Looks like we'll be sailing past 39+4 without anything to report

FHNick · 07/04/2018 21:10

@emvy thank you

Aspenn17 · 12/04/2018 20:59

Hi all, how is everyone getting on? Any babies made an appearance yet? I’m being induced on Tuesday (my due date). Feeling a bit down as I wanted a pool birth with as little medical intervention as possible and looks like i’ll be having the opposite! But tbh just want her here safely now. I will be trying all the old wives tales for the next 4 days though!! 😬

broad86 · 12/04/2018 21:34

No baby for me - not even much of a sign she might be coming! Bump has dropped and I'm 3/5 engaged but apart from that she seems comfy! Going swimming today and movies just to distract myself!

pomelo33 · 12/04/2018 22:55

@Aspenn17 how come they're inducing you on your due date? My midwife told me yesterday they wouldn't induce unless I was over a week due :(

I've been having aggressive twinges, cramps, upset tummy and v tired. Baby is 3/5 engaged. 38 weeks yesterday. Someone tell me the baby might come early??

BabyBooDue · 13/04/2018 08:58

38+1 and fed up here!

Had to go to the day assessment yesterday for a check up (I'm swollen and breathless and had a headache, so they wanted to check for pre-eclampsia). All fine thankfully Smile but not happy to still be pregnant.

A family friend had her baby yesterday and she was technically a week behind me!

Aspenn17 · 13/04/2018 09:21

@pomelo they all sound like positive signs something might be happening!

Being induced early as I’ve got a chunky baby. She was already measuring 7lb 7 at my growth scan 3 weeks ago and I also have too much fluid around her so the consultant said he didn’t recommend waiting much longer, technically she is measuring more like a 42 week old baby right now.

pomelo33 · 13/04/2018 10:04

@Aspenn17 a 42 week baby - wowsers! Love a big baby! 💙

All the best with the induction and everything, how exciting!

Stealthtoast · 13/04/2018 10:33

Mine came 24 hours after my post above, at 37+6! It turns out my feeling that I couldn't go on for another couple of weeks was right! He still has no name 6 days later and we're still a bit upside down as we hadn't sorted out all our baby things, but we're both doing really well. Good luck everyone else!

BabyBooDue · 13/04/2018 10:40

Congratulations Stealth! Hope you're feeling better now and the SPD has gone Smile
You've given me hope that they do decide to come early after all Grin

Congratulations @Stealthtoast ! It's always lovely to hear a baby has successfully popped out! :)

Shanners123 · 13/04/2018 14:55

Oh wow congrats! I seen on another thread emvy had a little boy on Tuesday. So jealous!
I'm currently 40+3 and no sign of baby. It's 1/5th engaged though so apparently ready to go. Braxton hicks have really stepped up.. anyone else noticed this?
I don't feel too impatient for my baby tbh but I would like to avoid induction, which has been booked for Friday, at 40+10.
Fingers crossed for some weekend babies!

broad86 · 13/04/2018 20:36

Yes! Lots more bh for me too (39+2) but other than that not much of a sign!

Always good to see babies being born gives me hope I'm not just going to be pregnant forever....

BabyBooDue · 13/04/2018 20:48

I had a MW appointment today, baby is 2/5 engaged which I'm happy with Smile

She booked my next app for my due date when I'll be given a sweep, anyone else offered one at 40 weeks? I don't know why but I was quite surprised! Fingers crossed baby will already have put in an appearance by then....

Thanks @pomelo! And congrats @stealth! Good luck to everyone over the weekend, not long to go for any of us now hopefully.
