19 weeks+1 today and have been nothing but ill so far! Had to be taken to hospital from a bad asthma attack last week/ chest infection and now have an ear infection. Just got over chronic constipation and constant nausea too. Finding it hard to be positive when I'm up all night and just want to cry with the pain. I want to enjoy being PG Sad Anyone else seem to pick up everything? I do have an underactive thyroid so don't have the best immunity anyway but never this ill so often 😪

I'm sorry. Yes I do seem to have picked everything up this pregnancy.

Two killer utis too.

Your immune system does go a bit crazy especially in the early days. But it does help baby develop their immune system.

Also hypo, and a bit asthmatic - are your thyroid levels ok for you? I've been able to keep mine just below 1 but when they crept up to 3 I did feel a lot worse for a bit.

FallenAngel89 · 04/04/2018 19:01

Oh I had a UTI at the beginning too. Just feel like I've had non stop antibiotics and steroids. Hate having to take anything! All my levels are OK according to MW, just have to keep plodding on. Nearly at the half way mark so not long, just wish I could relax and enjoy it.
Hope you manage to stay well! Flowers

I am 8 weeks and have had a flu type bug for over 2 weeks....as well as being sick a lot. I am so down then feel guilty for feeling down because this so amazing. Also convinced myself I have Toxoplasmosis!!! Hoping it is just because I have no immune system which is why the bug is not going. Get well soon x x

FallenAngel89 · 04/04/2018 19:10

I really feel for you, it's so horrible and I understand the guilt. I also feel guilty for my other DC as I haven't been able to do much with them. Thinking of building an oxygen bubble 😂 All welcome lol Get well soon xx

Sorry to be a pain. Gp and consultant should be managing thyroid as levels are different in pregnancy. I'm sure everything IS fine but please ask what your tsh has been. It should be below 3 but I personally do not feel well (and catch more things) unless I'm nearer 1.

Most MW are not involved in this and infact do not get training (unless they've got a special interest).

FallenAngel89 · 04/04/2018 19:23

My MW is a bit rubbish tbh, she doesn't answer the phone or anything so I think I might go to my GP directly and ask. Thank you 😊 x

Gp may need to look it up. Check nice guidelines.

Did you see a consultant when you had your 12 week scan?

AnnaLuna · 04/04/2018 20:00

I thought it was just me 🙈 Been ill since the beginning of this pregnancy, I am 18w +5. Have had constant colds, chest infection, cough which I have had for over 3 months now. So fed up with being ill.
Hang in there. Hopefully you’ll feel better when the weather is warmer x Flowers

FallenAngel89 · 04/04/2018 20:03

I am under a specialist consultant who I'll see more when I have my growth scans from 26 weeks. I've seen her once so far at around 14weeks and she never mentioned anything untowards with my blood results. I was ill then and mentioned I kept getting everything but she just said it's normal to have low immune system Confused

Me too, coming up 14 weeks and had tonsillitis, stomach bug and now a really annoying chesty cough on top of the nausea and knackeredness. I was putting it down to having a toddler too (I see you have another DC) who seems to be an amazing 'carrier' of germs from nursery without really getting ill himself!

tappitytaptap · 04/04/2018 20:18

Fingers crossed we all start to feel a bit better soon!

ZERF · 04/04/2018 20:20

It was probably fine then. And yes, it's very normal to have a rubbish immune system during pregnancy. I never get utis and the number of high temps due to that or viruses I've had has been ridiculous! Mostly caught from ds or work (School). To be honest I find the asthma more of an issue. But it's worth double checking the thyroid too.

Have you increased your dose? Have you been having blood tests during pregnancy?

ZERF · 04/04/2018 20:21

Not everyone needs to raise their dose, but it should be monitored and the range in pregnancy is different.

mischiefmanaged01 · 04/04/2018 21:42

I 100% feel your pain- I’ve had a chronic cough for the whole of my pregnancy (it started before but they are reluctant to investigate now due to tests being either scans or invasive), broke a rib through coughing, morning sickness, numerous chest infections, headaches, suspected whooping cough etc. I’m now 26 weeks and in all honesty it’s been a nightmare. DH has been brilliant though and has been supportive throughout as has my GP. The lack of useful pain killers has been interesting (especially with the rib) but it will all be worth it in the end! You’re nearly half way, hang in there!

FallenAngel89 · 05/04/2018 11:03

Wow! I really feel for you all, especially with a broken rib Shock Paracetamol is about all we can have for everythingggg but I suppose it's not forever. My cough got so bad I had to cross my legs so I wouldn't pee! Hubby found that hilarious but he's been a trooper through it all despite working too, bless him Smile

@fallenangel89 if you’re really stuck your gp will prescribe codeine... but then you get the fun of the constipation so then have to have a laxative too!! I think you’re in the same boat as me- hurry up baby!!

FallenAngel89 · 05/04/2018 21:00

@mischeifmanaged I can't have codeine as it makes me hallucinate (found out whilst having DD2) it was really scary, i thought a woman was crawling round my bedroom door and my DH was talking like a demon. I freaked that bad i gave myself a nosebleed 😂 The pregnancy vitamins make me so constipated it's horrible and then when I do go it's painful. Roll on August Grin

@FallenAngel89 I’m wide awake and now too scared to sleep coz of the image of a woman crawling around on the floor 😂 must have been terrifying!

FallenAngel89 · 06/04/2018 08:34

Oh it really was like horror movie scary with just the hands latching around the door first and then her face...it was so real at the time. My MIL had to phone and calm me down and convince me it wasn't real. Never again will I touch codeine 😂

I’m not surprised!
