Induction

So I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I’ve been told that I will 100% be induced as I’m now on medication and soon to be on insulin. I have a consultant appointment coming up in the next 10 days to discuss my induction I’m guessing. Midwife says they will probably induce at 38 weeks but can you ask the consultant to induce at just over 37 weeks? Reason I would rather this is because I’ve been in and out of hospital with reduced movements and I’d just feel happier. Does anyone know if you can ask them to do it earlier or not?

37 weeks is full term so that's the magic number, things may chance due to the GD though so defo ask.

I was induced in first pregnancy due to reduced movements x3 so I totally get the worry your having.

This time round I'm being monitored for GD so will probably he induced again.

Could possibly be if you keep having reduced movements they will act sooner so best have bag ready

Good luck!

I’ve been refused induction as despite I keep suffering from reduced movements the baby is always healthy when I’m on the trace and so the scans. I don’t have gd so that might help your argument. Doctor told me the longer the babies are inside us the better for them and also the closer to full term the more chances you’ve got for a successful induction (25% end up in csection )

Saying that I’m 39 on Wednesday and today I’ve been mentioned that they might accept it and induce me this week or next one

Good luck

I would wait to be induced at the latest time possible. To give your body a chance to be ready. My reasoning would be the later you leave it the more 'ready' your body is and so the whole induction process might go smoother.
