HSV2 since July 2017 (My 1st outbreak). That was also when I became pregnant and now currently due to give birth this saturday (due date 7th April) via normal vaginal route. However I suffered a recurrent outbreak at week 37 which i didnt expect so went Drs and been on anti viral meds since then till now. Aciclovir 400mg 3 times a day. Sore has gone/healed but still feel very tingly at the same part down there. Area feels itchy few times in the day. (Left Lower vulva). I been on meds for 3 weeks now. Could it just be something else like nerves or is this a prodrome/ viral shedding symptom in which vag birth is a risk? The sore went away last week so im worried as i dont know what to do now. Continue with vaginal or call to schedule a section? Surgery scares me so much and no1 knows i have this apart from partner who stupidly gave it to me. Stuck on what to do. C section carries so much possible complications and would hate to go through it if im safe to do a vag birth which i have always wanted to do but wouldn't forgive myself if something happened to baby. I was planning on putting some tegaderm film dressing around site of tingling and hope for the best? If my obstetrician confirms they see no obvious sores considering i have developed enough antibodies and there is nothing visible showing. Or am i being selfish for possibly risking it? Advice please

I think only your obstetrician can answer this question to be honest but if they see no risk/harm in a vaginal birth then I don't think you are being selfish at all, in fact if they see no risk/harm I would imagine that they would be very reluctant to book you for a c/s. When are you seeing them again?

Tomorrow morning thankfully. He annoys me though because he doesnt physically look down there. He just asks questions. With my big belly i struggle to see whats goin on down there. But ill ask.

I would just be very direct with him and when he asks a question just say "I'm sorry but I really can't see very well at this stage and I would appreciate it if you or one of the midwives could take a look for me"
There might not have been much point him looking before this stage anyway as anything he saw should have cleared up before delivery so maybe planning to look tomorrow anyway.

I'd say that if you are on acciclovir for the remainder of your pregnancy you should be fine. I was lucky in that I didn't get an outbreak during pregnancy, it was in my notes to check me once I arrived at the hospital in labour and if any sores were seen I'd go for an emcs. When I arrived I told the midwife that I didn't currently have a flare up, but she quickly checked anyway because I bought it up and I had a vaginal birth.
