Bleeding/Bloody nose - anyone else had this??

Since the start of my pg I've had quite a bit of blood coming from my nose - although it does come and go.

I know that nosebleeds are common in pg but I've not actually had a nosebleed as such. It's more like dried-up blood up my nostrils or a lot of blood in the tissue when I blow my nose (sorry if TMI). It's not something I'm worried about it's just annoying more than anything else but I've kind of got used to it now

Just wondered if anyone else had the same problem??

all the way through, very annoying

me too - often in the night

Yeah I got this with 1st pg and have it now with 2nd. I am 20 weeks now and it has eased up a bit, but it is annoying. It made me snore at night, and when I woke and below my nose it was bloody and thick. Grim.

yes! All throughout! At least 3 or 4 times a day. Just like you not profuse but everytime I blow my nose, and it always feel stuffy and blocked! I've been told not to worry as long as I'm not feeling faint with it, which I'm not.

I'm having the very same problem at the moment, last week a fell asleep (afternoon nap) on the settee, when I woke up there was blood all over one side of my face alittle worried at the time, but nose bleeds are very common in PG. Someone once told me that it was down to your body making alittle to much blood and it's a way of your body to get rid of it IYSWIM. Seeing my MW next week going to just re check with her that it's okay!

Babylovesmuffins · 10/05/2007 12:07

Glad I'm not alone! I'm 25 weeks now and it's not showing any signs of going away. For those who've had it in previous pg's I take it the bleeding stops after birth?!!

Hi
I've had this all the way through. I think the reason for it is due to the extra blood your body is pumping, it creates extra pressure on the vessels in your nose. These are thin at the best of times so a tiny bit more pressure will burst them- hense nose bleeds.

Stops after birth but expect it if you are pregnant again. Had it with all 3 pregnancies. Watch for it getting heavier, with DD I got aneamic and i'm sure constant blood loss through my nose didn't help.

BabyMadwithBump · 10/05/2007 14:15

So far I've had it with all PG's, this being my 3rd and yes after 2DS's were born it stopped!
