I'm 34 weeks. Just to be clear; if I've had cpox as a child and my son gets it at this point, Baby is ok?

If I get shingles could that be an issue?

Poorly boy with suspicious spot on tummy.

You don't get shingles from chicken pox for a start. If you've had it already then you should be immune so no danger to the baby. You could get your immunity checked

Hey I suffer with recurring shingles and get it usually once a month my midwife said it was fine and she checked with the GP. I was really worried about my little jelly bean, Apparently it’s ok because the baby will be born with the antibodies to fight it. If I do have shingles I have to stay out of contact of other pregnant woman as you can catch chicken pox off shingles which can be dangerous for mums to be. Hope this helps xx

Yes, if you have had chickenpox already then you have no worries. Better for your son to get it now than when you have a vulnerable newborn around!

You can't catch shingles from chickenpox, so don't panic about that either.

Thanks, that's great.

I thought shingles was the re-awakening of the dormant virus?

Yes it is but chicken pox exposure doesn't cause it. In fact I think exposure to wild chicken pox is supposed to help boost your immune response and help prevent shingles from recurring

Ah yes I'd heard that. Great, thanks.
