Diahorrea at 37 weeks

Hi all,

So I’m 37 + 2 and have had diahorrea for the past 24 hours. I don’t have any other symptoms at all- even my appetite is normal. I’m drinking loads to avoid dehydration and I don’t think I’m dehydrated yet. For the last few months I’ve had horrendous heartburn and indigestion and on Thursday, it was particularly bad, so I took more Gaviscon than I usually do, which might have caused it. I haven’t eaten anything particularly unusual in the past few days and I don’t have any nausea so I’m not sure whether it could be a bug.

Can diahorrea harm my baby? Movements seem normal and nothing else has changed. I don’t think I’ve dropped yet as baby still seems high. Should I call a midwife or is this pretty normal at this stage in pregnancy? This is my first, so I’m a bit clueless and any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

How severe is it? I’ve had significantly looser bowel movements since around that point, I’m now 38+1, but I wouldn’t say diarrhoea particularly. I’ve attributed mine to the loosening of everything in preparation for the next couple of weeks. I would say to make sure you keep really, really hydrated and keep monitoring it but if it’s particulalrly bad I would definitely advise calling. I would only think it’d cause problems if you allowed yourself to get dehydrated but if it’s severe and continuing for an extended period of time then there could be a reason for it I guess.

Hi! I'm 38wks and suffered this on and off. MW said change of hormones, body getting readying for labour etc. Give her a call if you're worried, but if you are feeling movements and well, then all is ok is imagine Smile Do you have your 38 weeks check up soon?
