Waters broke, not much going on?

Hello.
So my waters started leaking about 5.30pm yesterday then went with a gush at about 7pm and been trickling ever since.
Called mat unit and they said give it a couple of hours to see if contractions start and to come in.
Mild and irregular contractions started soon after so I called back about 10pm and asked if I can stay home and see how things go. Want to labour at home for as long as I can. They said that's fine and that I know my body (2nd baby) and to call back when things kick off.
Well things haven't kicked off Angry
I'm now getting (not particularly painful) contractions every 10 mins ish so I know I'm not ready to go in.
My problem is I'm not sure how long to wait if things don't get going? I know there is a risk of infection that raises the longer this goes on for. I really don't want to be induced So I'd like to wait as long as I can really.
Anyone else had this? How long did they let you wait for things to progress on their own?
TIA

I believe it's after 24 hours they'd like to see you. If you're worried give them a call again for advice, they can give much better, safer advice than any of us can.

Good luck today meeting your baby!!! I hope things ramp up soon for you.

I agree with Cuppa - pretty sure it’s 24 hours after waters go that they like to induce if things aren’t really progressing, but that we are not medically trained and really this is something you need to discuss with them.

I hope this ramp up for you ASAP and you don’t have to be induced. Best of luck! Xx

My waters broke on the Monday, I wasn't induced til the Friday. Although I was back and forward to the hospital all week. Good luck, hopefully things will start naturally for you.

This happened to me. I refused induction (and antibiotics for a while anyway, eventually consented to those) and things got going by themselves. 2.5 days from water breaking to baby though.

Good luck!

I think it's 24 too but phone them back and ask. Maybe do some sideways stair walking, drive over speed bumps, bounce on a birth ball!

I would be tempted to at least go in and get yourself checked over and then if things still aren't happening you can come home again to wait if that's what you choose.
The hospital may recommend induction after 24 hours but if everything is ok with both of you, you can decline and choose to wait a little longer.
