5 weeks pregnant with a big bump I'm confused if I'm really 5 weeks or I have twins

Probably gas. I swelled loads in the first trimester. Then it went down again before I got my real bump at 26 weeks.

Addictedtohavingbabies · 30/03/2018 09:18

Always used to get water bloat in the start with mine, but it's not the real bump yet.

hannahuk1 · 30/03/2018 09:22

Been told mine Is a real bump from doctor

Even if it's twins it's unlikely to be a real bump at 5 weeks. Did the doctor say he could feel the top of your uterus?

hannahuk1 · 30/03/2018 09:27

Doctor said that all he knows is that it's a real bump but he can't see how many there is till my scan on 5th April x

I'm definitely no expert, but I didn't think you could get a bump until 12w+ as the uterus was still in the pelvis? I would've thought that it was bloating, but then again I'm no doctor! Smile

Oh twins, exciting! Good luck, not long to go until you know for sure Smile

Lj8893 · 30/03/2018 09:33

I would suspect if the doctor can feel the top of your uterus (which means it's a real bump) that you are 12 weeks or more. But you scan will determine that! Even if it's twins to feel the top of your uterus you would be more than 5 weeks.

Either that or your doctor doesn't really know what he's feeling (GPs don't routinely palpate pregnant abdomens!) and you are 5 weeks with bloating Smile

ClareB83 · 30/03/2018 09:34

Yeah I think your doctor is talking bollocks or you're further along. I am pregnant with twins and still had no bump at 5 weeks.

hannahuk1 · 30/03/2018 09:37

With my first I never got a bump till I was 18 weeks but this one is big at 5 weeks

2nd bumps tend to appear more quickly than 1st bumps, however not at 5 weeks.

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 30/03/2018 09:43

Even twin embryos would be barely visible to the naked eye at 5 weeks. Either it's bloat or you're considerably further along than that.

Fruitcocktail6 · 30/03/2018 09:51

I had a bump all through my first trimester, it was gas. I now don't look pregnant at all.

Maybe you're further along than you think, or it's multiples! Shock

zaalitje · 30/03/2018 09:55

Even with multiples it wouldn't make a difference, at 5 weeks they're the size of a seasame seed! And the uterus at this stage is below your pelvic bone too, that doesn't pop till about 12 weeks.

It'll be bloat, pregnancy bloat creates a very real bump.

unintentionalthreadkiller · 30/03/2018 10:50

I'm amazed the doctor told you that to be honest. No way is it a real baby bump unless you are a lot further along than you think you are.

Pickledgerkingsareathing · 30/03/2018 10:55

If you press on your belly from approx your belly button can you feel where your uterus starts and finishes ???? - like a hard lump of you press from the bottom of your stomach ? X
