Dating with a loooong cycle

So on Sunday I found out, to my total surprise, that I'm pregnant. We have been trying over a year but I had what I thought was a very short period on 6th March, so thought I was out in Feb. However I've had sore boobs and cramps for at least a couple of weeks. The positive came up instantly on pink dye and Clearblue says 3+ weeks. The second Clearblue said the same.

My issue is that I made the call to the local birthing unit to register, and when asked how far along I am I explained my last proper period was an 8-dayer on Jan 28th but my cycle is about 38-44 days so I think I conceived late Feb and had an implantation bleed.

My question is - would a midwife date from my last period, making me over 8 weeks already, for the booking-in and scans? Or with such a long cycle would they count back 2 weeks from when I think I conceived, making me 6 weeks? I don't know whether to call back tomorrow or not.

I was in a similar position to you. My "cycle" is usually between 10 days and 6 months. With DC1 I got my bfp around 50 days after my last period and booked in accordingly for 8 weeks. The 12 week scan put my dates back by 27 days and that's the EDD that was used throughout.

Go with the date of your period and they'll confirm or amend at the scan.

Congratulations Smile
