Caz10 & Beanstermummy, rather than revive the original thread thought I'd post to let you know how I had found the clinic today. Dr Owen was lovely, explained everything I wanted clarified & why they do some things & don't do others. Baby was in totally the wrong position so he jiggled my tummy a bit & said not to worry we'd plenty of time. LO obliged & he got all the measurements he needed, I'm 13+3 & fold measure 1mm, average at this stage would be 1.4 so he said that was a positive sign, obviously I have to wait on the combination of this & the blood tests which I should have by Friday, Monday at the outside. If I decide to go for the amnio, he said it'd probably be himself who would perform it at the Princess Royal. We got about 6 pictures as well, there was a lady there who'd just had the 3D scan & was waiting on her CDs in the waiting room with us. I'm not v keen on those altho' DH would like them, if we win the lottery maybe. Nurse who took my bloods was nice all in all a very professional visit & I wasn't hanging about for 40 mins with a full bladder which was a godsend.
Hope you both get on ok with yours.

Jbck thank you SO much for posting, very reassuring and I'm so glad it all went well for you. Funny to think of him being able to jiggle the baby about already, I am still thinking of mine as a wee ball of cells but I guess it is getting more and more baby-like as time goes on! Is the 13th week the optimum time? Was it amazing being able to see the baby on screen?! Had you already had your NHS 12 week scan?

I emailed them and got a very speedy reply back, actually from Dr Owen too, and he said to call about a week in advance for appointments, I'm only 9 weeks so have a while to think about it.

The 3D scans seem a bit indulgent somehow, I don't think we'll stretch to it, but like you said, if we won the lotter there would be no stopping me! The pics on the website are amazing!

Glad it all went well and thanks again.

When I was pg with DD I had to go out of the scan room, walk about a bit & actually jump up & down a couple of times. I thought the sonographer was kidding but she was completely serious. I went into the loo to jump tho' couldn't do it with a straight face. Wee besom still wasn't in the right position to see her heart chambers & I had to go back a few weeks later. Luckily tho' they couldn't tell us the sex the first time but could the second.
I had my booking in scan at 12+1 at PR & got 2 pics then (shh) but this time we've got one that shows you the trace of the heartbeat under the baby & they highlight the heart to see the bloodflow which is pretty amazing when you think how small it is. It also did a big rollover & touched it's face. I don't think I saw as much when I had a detailed scan with DD because I was v nervous & it is quite uncomfortable as they have to press pretty firmly, this was easier today.
He did say my dates were optimum but leaflet says anywhere between 11 & 14 weeks, suppose baby is a wee bit bigger so it might make it easier closer to the 14 weeks.
I forgot to do the lottery today so it'll be plain old NHS scans for us from now on I will get loads tho' due to history & other medical condition so I'll have even more than with DD & I'd a little album of hers. Think we have 10/11 pics from 8.5 weeks to 22.
You should get your NHS scan first to check there's only one in there just in case!

Oh Jbck don't joke about that, twins in the family....!! I can almost hear it being announced already!
Luckily I have my NHS scan quite early, 11 weeks, so I can see what that is like, chat to the doc etc and still have time to book in at the Nuffield if that is what we decide to do.
Not liking the thought of having to jump up and down with my "comfortably full" (is there such a thing?!) bladder!!
