So...

When sayings scan is done, is the EDD 38 weeks from conception or 40 weeks from conception?

I am unsure whether my dates will be later because I think I ovulated quite late...

Can anyone give me an example of their LMP, their ovulation dates and then of their EDD?❤️

EDD is 38 weeks from conception (theoretically 40 weeks from LMP if you assume textbook ovulation in day 14)

@MadameJosephine I'm so worried that I won't qualify for occupational maternity pay - judging by my dates I am 8 days out... I'm hoping like crazy I've done all the calculations wrong and that my dating scan will be within the time frames...

Has anyone experienced HR being at all flexible with dates?

Which date does the midwife GP write on the MatB?

They’ll use the date from your dating scan on the mat b1. Unfortunately, in my experience, employers are unlikely to be flexible

As others have said it's calculated as 40 weeks from LMP but it's not an exact science and EDD can change based on scans, so it may work out ok.

With my first pregnancy I calculated my dates (I knew when I ovulated, and my LMP) but my EDD kept getting pushed back at each of my scans - so in the end the due date I was given after my 20 week scan was almost 2 weeks later than the EDD calculated from my dates.

(DS was born 12 days 'early'. I wasn't surprised. All along I'd had a feeling that would happen and that the due date was actually closer the calculated dates.)

I missed out on omp by just over a week. I was gutted!

mischiefmanaged01 · 28/03/2018 12:01

As others have said they will go off what they see on the scan (unless you had IVF apparently) my date was pushed back 2 weeks at my 12 week scan from what we had calculated from LMP although I wasn’t surprised as I am pretty irregular. I do know of people who have had it bought forward though so here’s hoping for you!

EL332 · 28/03/2018 12:54

@KNain @mischiefmanaged01 I'm realllly hoping that's the case for me and at my scan I get the date I need - OMP is a bonus though as I feel so very incredibly lucky to have fallen pregnant in my first month TTC, and health of the pregnancy is what's most important to me 🙂

@KNain I can't imagine how frustrating that must have been - did you try and negotiate at all?

38 weeks from conception should be your due date. You will ovulate 14 days before your period. 5 Days from fertilisation to blastocyst the blastocyst will then implant and roughly a further 9 days untill your period is due. (The 2 week wait as they call it). If you have a regular 28 day period or so then they class you as being in your 4th week of pregnency even though your baby has actualy been attached to you for a week +_ a few days . So i think if you normaly have a 5 week cycle a week would be taken off at your scan because the extra week may have just been your lining building up. As far as im aware i think this is correct although im not a doctor or nurse so cant say for sure but it is my understanding of the dates. (I had fertility treatment. Just got a BFP! Grin ) . I hope this helps! Smile

EL332 · 28/03/2018 22:21

@ScottishJaggyNettle wow thanks for all the info and HUGE congratulations on your BFP! ❤️

Thank you Grin just praying that i make it through the 1st trimester its been a long wait so i have obsessed over the details of fertilisation for a few years now. I wish you luck with your scan and i hope that you get the dates that you need for your OMP Smile
