Pre-Period Symptoms - 29 weeks

I've had a fairly easy pregnancy so far, just some pelvic pain. However this week I've been getting similar symptoms to what I'd get just before my period - lower back pain and bowel issues. TMI, but the day before and first day of my period I normally get lower back pain, then some loose poos, stinky farts, etc.
Is it likely just pregnancy hormones that's causing this again and nothing to worry about? I've been really uncomfortable this week and struggling with sleep so I don't know if that's making things worse or not.

Anyone? The diarrhoea has gotten worse this morning, to the point where I've stayed off work. I know constipation is common in pregnancy - is the opposite common as well?

Now your at 29 weeks baby is really a substantial size inside your uterus. It's possible that the baby (uterus) is pushing/moving your bowels out the way and causing disruption for a little while.

It's fairly common. But keep an eye and if it doesn't improve in a couple of weeks then call your midwife Smile

(I am not a midwife by the way. But I had the same in both my pregnancies and it made sense in my mind when my MW told me this)

Hi, just wondering if you have eaten something unusual or if this could be a tummy bug and not pregnancy related? I don’t remember having an upset stomach that seemed pregnancy related.

However the upset stomach could be caused by the lack of sleep (which is likely pregnancy linked!).

I hope you feel better later. If your symptoms get worse I’d see your GP

Thanks Lilonetwo, I think cause I've heard so much about constipation rather than the other way and the symptoms seemed so like the start of my period I was getting a bit concerned. The bits I did read online seemed to be people much closer to their due date and marking the starter to labour so it scared me a little.
I'm at the midwife again on the 12th, hopefully it will be well cleared by then. For today I'm taking a sick day and resting up.

I am 26 weeks and have suffered with diarrhoea on and off throughout my pregnancy. Everyone warned me about the constipation, which fortunately I have never had but have suffered the other way!
Sometimes I get bad stomach cramps with it as well but it normally settles down quite quickly.
It's also possible that you have a bit of a stomach bug.
