Hello all! Really need some help. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and in a full time professional job with good pay. I am single. I’ve just been through getting an IVA as I had debt problems and currently live with my sister but the tenancy ends at the end of May. My job is horrendous and I was signed off with stress last month.

In addition to this I am in consultation with redundancy and will find out next week if it’s me going.

I have spoken to the council around a month ago and they said they can’t help me at the moment as I am currently housed.

I am hoping the council will help me if I am made redundant and at the moment that seems the best option for me.

The problem is, if I am not made redundant I simply can’t afford to live on maternity pay. Also due to joking an Iva it is very unlikely I will be able to private rent through a landlord.

Does anyone know if you can claim income support whilst technically still employed and on maternity?

Also if I resign, will I be entitled to benefits?

Thank you! Xxx

Council won’t house depending on redundancy as your income is not related to housing need.

As far as I am aware you cannot get income support if employed.
You could claim contribrions based esa if signed off sick maybe ?

You might get child and working tax credits OP.

Possibly housing benefit if you rent, nothing if you own.

You'll get child benefit too.

Check out entitledto website or try CAB.
