Anyone who stayed on 2-3 weeks clearblue had a good outcome?

I know a lot of people say not to use them but I did and now of course I’m panicking.
I’ve been 2-3 weeks on Clearblue for 12 days.
People often say oh it doesn’t matter, as long as your HCG levels are doubling. But if they ARE doubling every 2 or 3 days you should reach the threshold for 3+ a week or week and a half later.

If you just weren’t getting a 3+ can you share what happened? I’m 6 weeks. Positive at 11 DPO so it’s not like I could possibly be a week less far along than I think. A day or two maximum.

Do I just have to wait for a month?

Honestly for me, it wasn’t good.

I’ve had four pregnancies (one child so far and I’m 39 weeks preg now), the second miscarriage was a “missed miscarriage” so no bleeding or anything that would indicate a problem, but I never progressed past 2-3, even when I should have been 8 weeks pregnant.

Epu refused to see me so I ended up booking an app with BPAS (abortion clinic) as I was so so desperate to have a scan in whatever way I could and at the time couldn’t afford to shell out £100 on a private one - they said I was measuring very very early. I knew then that it wasn’t good news and a week or so later bleeding started.

With my first pregnancy, I was very young and the first test I took said 3+. With this one, the tests changed as they should have x

howthelightgetsin · 26/03/2018 14:35

Thank you. Yes in my last pregnancy I got 3+ at the right time too. My gut is saying this can not possibly be a good thing.

I don’t mind doing a private test but I’m still fairly early and I don’t see the point in going, them seeing a yolk sac and no heartbeat and hearing that it’s too early to tell come back in a week.. which is probably what it would be. I’ve had no pain or spotting so nothing I can go to EPU with. The thing I’m most fearful of is an ectopic as I know low HCG is an indicator for that.

I'm having a good outcome (so far). I took three CB tests over the course of two weeks and they all said 2-3 weeks, even though I was 6-8 weeks. I'm now ten weeks pregnant and bubba is healthy with a strong heartbeat (I had an early scan as I had a bleed last week). My HCG levels are also rising as they should.

My midwife told me that the weeks indicators on CB tests are notoriously inaccurate. The reading you get can be skewed by how diluted your urine is, what time of day you take the test, ect.

I understand your worry (I worried too), but honestly, I wouldn't put too much stock in the weeks indicator. Flowers

howthelightgetsin · 26/03/2018 14:40

Did you eventually get a 3+ or just give up testing?

OP posts:
CobaltRose · 26/03/2018 14:42

I gave up eventually, it was causing me too much unnecessary stress! By all means have an early scan if you're worried, but missed miscarriages are quite rare. If you're not bleeding or in any pain I wouldn't worry too much, but I know pregnancy is incredibly stressful at the best of times!

fuzzywuzzy · 26/03/2018 14:48

Mine wasn’t good either, when I had a missed miscarriage the clearblu digi stayed at the first 2-3weeks Level.

I know doctors/midwives say not to take notice but I also noticed that cheapies also did not get darker and started getting fainter.

Can you call your epau and say your worried about ectopic and explain. They may see you.

furryelephant · 26/03/2018 14:49

My 2-3 weeks is a giant lump of a toddler asleep on me right now SmileI think I eventually got one 3+ but was over 8 weeks by then!

howthelightgetsin · 26/03/2018 15:21

fuzzywuzzy my EPU needs a doctor or A&E referral and I feel like I can’t make an emergency doctors appointment because of Clearblue tests (I keep trying to word it in my head and I can’t come up with something that sounds reasonable!).
If this pregnancy is doomed I wish it would just go ahead and end.

I don’t know if I should get a private scan just to find or about the ectopic thing or not. If it’s “just” a MC or a potential MC I guess a private scan won’t do anything. And then I’d have to repeat the whole thing at EPU.

PenguinChristmas · 26/03/2018 15:55

I never went past 2-3 weeks and I’m now 25 weeks. Personally I think those tests cause more stress than reassurance!

Obviously it could mean something is unfortunately wrong but it could just be that they’re not very good tests.

Fingers crossed for you xx

FranticallyPeaceful · 26/03/2018 17:03

I’d not pay any attention to it, they’re notoriously unreliable for week readings

Nikki1812 · 26/03/2018 17:08

I had a good outcome.

I had TWINS 😁😁

Best of luck x

Nikki1812 · 26/03/2018 17:12

My last comment was supposed to have smiley faces 🙈.

Basically my hcg doubled then it tripled. I had a MC a few weeks beforehand so the ward who had dealt with me during the MF took me in for bloods and a scan. Nothing could be seen apart from thickening of the womb and corpus luteum, they booked me In with EPU 2 weeks later and I found out I was having twins.

zaalitje · 26/03/2018 19:21

CB are the work of the devil and should be banned.
It may be that it hasn't moved on because there is a problem, otherwise may be that conception was a day or two later than you think or hcg might be rising slowly.
I'm afraid none of us can tell and I know the waiting is horrid. But equally the hcg range that's normal for each point in early pregnancy is so wide, eg 40mIU/cc would be normal for 3, 4 or 5 weeks (which in CB dates would cover 1-2 weeks, 2-3 weeks and possibly 3+)!!!
3 weeks: 5-50 mIU/cc
4 weeks: 4-426 mIU/cc
5 weeks: 19-7,340 mIU/cc
6 weeks: 1,080-56,500 mIU/cc
7 - 8 weeks: 7,650-229,000 mIU/cc

But there are no end of threads on here from women worried sick when the test doesn't move on when they hoped.

Fingers crossed for you

Hi OP. I'm commenting as I was in your situation and wanted honesty. All I was told was "those things are shit" but I do think for a lot of people (not everyone) they are a good indication that something isn't right

I've had 3 pregnancies, 2 worked out and the clearblue digitals went up as expected. The one that didn't work out was stuck on 2-3. I had a gut feeling thinhs had gone wrong and at 6w 4d I went for a scan and while I was in the waiting room I actually started bleeding. They went ahead with the scan and said there there was nothing but an empty sac.

I really hope things work out for you. You can usually get a private scan the same day which will tell you one way or another.

To add - I bled for 6 days, then caught again the following month. I'm now due in 3 weeks.

I'm keeping everything crossed that things are fine for you and please keep us updated.

sparkles212 · 26/03/2018 21:30

Clearblue are not great. I went from 1-2 and took the other one a week later and it said 3+. Thing is I must have been just pregnant when I took the first test as I ovulated 5 days later than a normal person so there was no way I was 3+ when I tested again, bearing in mind that 3+ on a clear blue is usually around 5 or so weeks pregnant.

Try not to panic.. I was test mad at first and some lines were fainter later on than at first and some were really strong lines. I've stopped now for my own sanity as I was scrutinizing every last spec.

seizethecuttlefish · 26/03/2018 21:38

Clear blue are the devil. I got so worked up testing with them that I stopped. 2 weeks of testing and they never changed. I'm 33 weeks pregnant. He's a strong, healthy wee thing. It's easier said than done but step away from the tests. They change nothing. Congrats on your pregnancy.

howthelightgetsin · 26/03/2018 21:44

Thank you so much everyone.

I’ve booked a scan for a week’s time and in the meantime I will wait and see. if something’s going to go wrong I’d rather it start on its own than have my hopes up to see a heartbeat on a screen and just see nothing, but the waiting has a deadline of one week now.

howthelightgetsin · 02/04/2018 15:41

Well, still no bleeding or pain but private scan showed an empty sac and dated me at four weeks or under. Hoping I start bleeding soon.

I’m so sorry OP 💐 it sounds like lots of ladies fall pg again very soon after a mc if that is what you want...it’s all just so scary and horrible I’m sorry you are going through it.

WhyTheHeckMe · 02/04/2018 21:01

Really sorry to hear that op. Unfortunately I really do think these tests can be a good indicator of what's going on in a lot of instances.
When this happened to me I bled naturally which was just like a normal period and then as said above, was pregnant again within a couple of weeks. Look after yourself, it really sucks and is a horrible thing to go through Flowers

howthelightgetsin · 03/04/2018 20:51

WhyTheHeckMe good luck with your imminent arrival!

Thanks all. What a strange thing a MMC is. It’s like the whole fact I’ve been “pregnant” for almost four weeks was all in my head. And today I’m as pregnant as I was a few days a go (still no pain or bleeding!) but now I’m able to decide to no longer think of myself as pregnant Wine Wine ...
Busy toddler keeping me from dwelling.

Hi all, I know this thread is a bit old but I imagine there are a lot of ladies taking the Clear blue digital test, Googling and freaking out that the test keeps coming back with 2-3 weeks when you know you should be further along to vet 3+.
Well, my tests have been accurate until this morning when I should had 3+ weeks as I am 5ws 3days (24 DPO) but only got 2-3 with first morning urine. I hence requested an extra HCG test from .y doctor (I had 3 before and this is extra) and my HCG is now 7,003! This is way off the 2,753 threshold that Clear Blue claims to have for 3+ weeks in their brochure. So I am done testing with those and wanted to share here so if anyone is reading this and it helps at least one person to feel calmer, I will be happy. Baby dust to all the readers!

silvertongue · 24/09/2018 08:46

Just to add that they are totally rubbish. I got 1-2 weeks at 3+5 weeks when they aren't supposed to be that sensitive. I got 1-2 weeks again at 5+4. I didn't get 3+ weeks until I did a random test at 9 weeks. My pregnancy is fine so far.
