I'm interested in books for general pregnancy and also want to read something about hypno birthing ...

Any recommendations?

Books to read?

Books to avoid?

Read: The Poitive Birth Book and Expecting Better

I wouldn’t say specifically avoid anything but definitely be critical of what you are reading and try to balance opinion with evidence.

Hypnobirthing-wise, I’m planning to do a Wise Hippo course a bit later on. Don’t want to read too much in advance as don’t want to over complicate things. I have been doing some basic hypnobirthing relaxation videos on YouTube though.

@Didntcomeheretofuckspiders I'll have a look at some videos and look into Wise Hippos! A couple of people have mentioned the same book so I'll have a browse for that too! Smile

Second vote for Expecting Better here. It appeals to my need for facts and distinct like of hysteria/ the way people treat pregnant women as if they're ill. She's a good writer and it's a nice easy read. I think if everyone read it the number of neurotic 'can I eat this/do this?' questions on this board would reduce Wink

@Didntcomeheretofuckspiders Are you me?! Ha ha! I haven’t read the positive birth book yet, but have read expecting better and I’m also doing a Wise Hippo course. Mine is in July. Really looking forward to it!

@EL332, if you haven’t read/don’t know anything then How to grow a baby and push it out is a good basics book.

Iv just completed a hypnobirthing course which was amazing :)

The book that came with it was the Katherine Graves one which is really good and a real eye opener! I have learnt loads! You can also download the tracks on apple music.

Expecting better by Emily Oster.

Forget anything else.

Expecting Better definitely.

I’m currently reading Bumpology by Linda Geddes and it seems pretty good.
