Heterotopic pregnancy....

Hi,

This is very rare so not expecting lots of advice but just wondered if anyone has experience of this? I got told at an early scan at 5.5 weeks that there was an egg and yolk sac in the right place (yay) but also a black mass at the top of my uterus at the narrowing from the fallopian tube. Went back for a scan at 6w3d and the baby now had a good strong heartbeat which was amazing. However black mass still there....the consultant did not think it was a fibriod and so they said that they do indeed think it is a twin ectopic pregnancy. I have to go back in a week and if it is still there they will need to operate. This of course terrifies me as it puts the healthy baby at risk (I believe there is a 50/50 chance it will survive the surgery) I am bits and going through my days at work like a zombie. It is rare in natural pregnancies....1:30,000 so hard to find anyone to talk to....x

Oh and my recovery took a couple of weeks. It was a bit tricky to sit up properly and walk for short distances at first, but after 2 weeks I had massively improved..: just focus on resting as much as you can and no house work!!

Do you no why they took your tube did it erupt ? And that's good to no.. hopefully when I go for scan they get this started I'm a nervous reck xx

123jayne · 21/03/2021 16:58

And thankyou for the recovery tips was you only allowed paracetamol after xx

dla123 · 21/03/2021 19:52

Hiya, they removed the tube so as to avoid it bursting. Apparently it was close and was already bleeding so very good they acted when they did.
Please don't let my story scare you though as every case is different!
I really hope it goes well for you 🤞 you'll know more at the scan x

dla123 · 21/03/2021 19:54

And yep only allowed paracetamol and codeine. Although I only took the paracetamol as was so worried about the other baby I didn't want to risk anything
even though those medications are absolutely fine in pregnancy I was just super anxious!

Oh really this is my worry as I've had pain in the left side for a week and a half now I no this sounds silly but before the scan I told them I can feel sank there the pain doesnt go away but it isnt unbearable this what makes me think mines close to eruption I'm sorry to hear that you dont think things like this happen .. yes that is true ik going to keep my fingere crossed only 2 more days really hope they dont drag. Yeah I think il do the same with just the paracetamol xxx

123jayne · 22/03/2021 18:00

Did you have any pain before you found out x x

dla123 · 22/03/2021 19:00

Hiya, I had a little pain a week before on my right side but it wasn't unbearable, it kept coming and going. I wasn't overly worried as I thought it was just my endometriosis playing up. Felt like it was pain coming from ovary
Has your pain got worse? If so maybe you can ask them to bring your scan forward x

Hi @123jayne how did your scan go? I hope all ok!
