I'm 18 weeks pregnant and my 3 year old dd is covered in chickenpox, my parents think I had it when I was a few weeks old but I'm beside myself with worry. I've had my blood tested but haven't had the results yet. I'm so worried it's going to affect the baby.

I was in an almost identical situation about a month ago. The wait for results was really stressful but even though my parents and I don't remember having it as a child, I came back with immunity ... have a friend who thought she'd never had it and was also pregnant so she got tested as a precaution and she also had immunity. Even if you're not immune they should let you know in time to take the anti-viral meds and even if that doesn't work I recall the chances of complications are still relatively low... so all in all from where you're sitting the odds are pretty good. Obviously complications when they come are very serious, hence why the HPs are so cautious... you've done everything you can at this point, so try not to worry.

That's good to know thank you, my dd started with spots Wednesday evening I had my bloods done Thursday but obviously it's the weekend so I've had to wait. I don't even know how long you have to get the anti viral meds if you need them I just pray I'm immune. I read somewhere today that the odds are 2-7 in 10,000 so the risk is low but you can't help worrying can you.
