Bump goes hard when I walk

Does anyone elses bump go rock hard when you go for a walk? It's so strange and I can't fathom why it would happen.

I also get a really bad stitch type pain in a band on my right side.

I'm assuming all this is normal and just one of those pregnancy things!

Bump going hard sounds like it could be Braxton hicks. I had this frequently from about halfway through with my twins - it felt like one of the turning to begin with, then got more intense and solid as the pregnancy went on. By the end I’d have a few hours every day where I was getting them every few minutes and they were very uncomfortable. Make sure you’re ell hydrated.

well obviously!

This happens to me too! I also assume it's normal, but I have no idea why it happens. I find that how hard or not hard my (still quite little - I'm 24 weeks) bump is also seems to just randomly vary sometimes.

Thanks for the advice @FancyNewBeesly, do Braxton Hicks feel like contractions because there's not feeling to it (other than the stitch feeling I get). I just notice that all of a sudden bump is like a rock. Thanks for the tip on staying hydrated, I've not been very good at water intake and vowed when I got up to drink more.

@LisaSimpsonsbff - it's so weird isn't it. My bump is huge (also 24 weeks). I think I've gained a lot of weight though :( However, when the bump goes hard there is NO softness to my tummy!

At first it didn’t feel anything like contractions but as my pregnancy went on they felt more like I imagine contractions to feel - none of the Pain, just a tightening feeling, a bit like when you use one of those muscle stimulation belt / pad things if you’ve ever used one of those! But initially no, I thought it was just one of the boys turning and sticking their bum out as often my bump would be hard and misshapen too when it happened.

Drinking lots of water is supposed to reduce BH, never did for me but BH is more of a problem in twin pregnancies

I've had lots of these hardenings today so I think you're definitely right about the Braxton Hicks, it makes sense! It's incredibly uncomfortable. I'm not looking forward to another 14 weeks of this!

Sounds like Braxton Hicks to me. Had them
really regularly with first baby and even more so with second. Feels like baby is being shrink wrapped by your tummy muscles! Needing the loo or more to drink we’re triggers for me.

I had Brixton hicks that didn’t feel like much but made my bump go rigid from the top down

Braxton Hicks, trust me.
