Fever in early pregnancy

I’m 5 and a half weeks pregnant and for the past few days have had an awful fever and cough. I haven’t really been able to get out of bed I feel so rotten! Trying to keep myself well hydrated and haven’t taken anything as I only have ibuprophen in the house.

Would a fever be dangerous this early in pregnancy? I had a MMC at 12 weeks in September so I’m probably over anxious anyways. Thanks xxx

I'm sorry you're feeling poorly. I had a fever of 40 at that stage and it wouldn't come down with paracetamol. Now 33 weeks :)

Try to get some paracetamol though and lots of fluids. Ribena helps my coughs and steaming

I also had a fever and a sickness bug at that stage. I haven't had any pregnancy sickness throughout so it was definitely a bug.
Paracetamol will help to bring your temp down. I found fruity ice lollies were refreshing and helped to get more fluids inside me xx

I had flu with a high temperature at 5 weeks. All fine in my last scan.

I too have had mcs and was similarly anxious though. It's a tough time.

I saw my gp on Monday and she said she wouldn’t give me the flu jab as it’s the end of the season, 4 days later I get flu...!

It could be a UTI. I had a fever with UTI when I was pregnant (had it 4 times!) Go doctors and get a urine sample. I hope you feel better soon.

All was well! Normal pregnancy, born on her due date. She’s currently bouncing on my bed trying to tell me it’s not bed time 🙄
