i posted the other day about me and my OH spiting up

iv been told if i give baby my last name he can have it changed to his? is this true i havnt decided fully on what last name at the moment as when we were together there was no question that baby had his name but now im not sure

If you're the one registering your baby then you're the one who decides the name.

Give the baby your surname.

No he can't change it to his. Give the baby your name.

You carried the baby for 9 months, your body went through all the challenges associated with pregnancy and his part in it was very small. I would give the baby your name. But whatever you decide the right answer

If you get married he can go and change it himself. Maybe that's what he meant. As you have split that's unlikely.

It's the other way around - if you give your baby his surname you can't change it back.

I’m interested in the legalities of this too... I’m wondering about double barrel just to keep everyone happy?

My ds has double barrelled. We have the forms to change it. We are married. Only one of us needs to attend the appointment. Ds will be having just my surname. But equally dh could have gone and changed it to his only without me attending.
None married the first name can be changed within the first year and surname to the dh's upon marriage - so bc only shows new surname. Unwed he can't do anything anytime without you!!
