Rhesus Negative help

Hi, I am rhesus negative but only now just finding out what that actually means which is quite scary. I had a medical termination last year at just over 6 weeks and I was given the anti D injection. I am currently almost 7 weeks pregnant and at 6 weeks had one spot of blood in my underwear. No more than that and nothing else since. I am now wondering if I should have had an anti D shot after that? Any advice from fellow rhesus negative ladies?

I dont know everything about it but I'm rhesus negative and for me there was nothing different/worrying until 20 weeks when I was given the anti d injection. I'm told after the birth I will also need a further injection if he/she is positive.

Midwife told me if you spot/bleed after 12 weeks they would give you anti D then

I'm rhesus negative and thought so long as you've had he anti D injection previously, no need for concern

Please don’t worry. I an rh negative and went through a miscarriage and then 2 pregnancies. Midwives etc are well informed now and I did not get injections until late in the pregnancies. The NCT website has info as does the NHS. Hope all is well

I didn’t have to have anti D for early spotting, but I did later on in the pregnancy. I did have quite a few injections due to the number of bleeds I had but baby and I were both fine.

No need for spotting pre 12 weeks.

I work in blood transfusion and we wouldn’t issue anti-D for a painless bleed before 12 weeks.

Thank you so much everyone. Not worried at all now 😊

You also only need it if the Dad is rhesus positive, not if he is rhesus negative

annlee3817 · 24/03/2018 22:46

I had spotting two or three times up until 13 weeks, and didn't have the anti d. Had it at 27 weeks and then once my DD was born I had another one as she is positive

Thank you 😁

I am rhesus negative and had spotting for around 6 weeks with DC2. I asked about anti-d and they said they don't give until 16weeks+ for spotting. Like you,I also had an anti-d shot after a medical termination around 10 years ago. All sounds right to me.

Midwife here, you don't need it that early. If I was you I would have the babies father tested as if he is also rhesus negative there is no need for it at all.
