I went to the docs today to get a blood test to rule out OC, apparently everything seems normal, but I am so itchy! I'm 39+4.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Do you have a rash? I had PUPPS at the end of my first pregnancy. Google it. Harmless but sooooo itchy.

LemonMuffin837 · 24/03/2018 20:06

No rash, the itching is spreading now and getting worse, can't help but worry.

Had mild (ie not bleeding) but unusual itching and was told this could be iron deficiency. Topped up my floradix and it’s gone but I’m keeping an eye on it. Ask your doctor or midwife please.

I wouldn't worry at 39+4, you're nearly there! If you have OC they'll maybe induce early just to get rid of it but I don't think it'll be a problem!

For me it was anaemia, but it can also be a sign of liver issues - it’s inportant you tell your MW about it ASAP

The tops of my feet itched like mad in the last couple of weeks. I scratched the skin off them and still have scars but it was worth it, scratching just felt so good.

I called the hospital, a midwife there looked at my bloods and confirmed with a doctor that everything looks fine. Just don't really understand what else it could be.
I do suffer with anxiety though which probably isn't helping to be honest, just sat here thinking the worst.

I'm only ten weeks and was very itchy for a while. Turns out it was because I was anaemic. Since I've been on iron supplements it's greatly improved.

LemonMuffin837 · 24/03/2018 20:18

@Oysterbabe yeah I have a patch on my ankle that's started to bleed where I've itched it so much lol.
Might just get OH to rub some cream all over me and see if that makes a difference.

I've been on and off itchy throughout pregnancy, your skin is just more sensitive and growing all the time. And water retention will make everything more sensitive too! Don't worry, slather yourself in Aveeno (the one with the blue pump!) and relax. It'll be over soon! Also avoid getting too hot, hot showers etc don't help!

LemonMuffin837 · 24/03/2018 20:34

@Astrid2 thanks, didn't even think of that. I'm sat here boiling hot, my OH has a cold so keeps putting the heating on (selfish!) and I'm sweating. Think I'll go have a coldish shower!
