Help! Ultrasound says in 8 weeks pregnant

I’ve had a scan done today and it’s come back to say I’m 8 weeks and 3 days.
Does this mean I conceived at this time and the baby is actually this old?
I can’t remember exactly the first day of my last period. It’s would have been between 15th-19th Jan.

I’m just trying to work out conception date.

The conception date is likely to be roughly 6 weeks and 3 days ago, as the dating is done from the first day of your last period. Women tend to ovulated around 14 days after their period and this is when you're fertile so most likely conceived.

So they are saying that it looks like your last period started 8 weeks and 3 days ago.

It’s that time from the beginning of the cycle you became pregnant.

The convention is that they measure from the first day of your last period, so on the day the baby is conceived, it is 2 weeks old. And for the first 2 weeks of your pregnancy you weren’t actually pregnant.

Very bizarre, but I understand it’s done because it makes things easier as people are more likely to know when their period was than the date of ovulation.

Conception approx 6th of Feb. The first two weeks from the start of your last period are counted as pregnancy, even though you weren't actually pregnant then.
