Ugh, went to the community midwife this morning and fretted so much at the thought of a needle there was no vein in either arm so didn't get them over and done with, someone tell me they aren't that painful, I'm going again sometime next week with mum (who passed out last time she took me for my bloods years ago, partner will be at work)

I too have a needle phobia. Not looking forward to my glucose tolerance test on Monday - two blood tests in one day! They are very short-lived and over with quickly. My coping strategy is to look away and bite down on the knuckle of my first finger as a distraction. And concentrate on my breathing. Find a strategy that works for you. Good luck x

I had a needle phobia for 13 years before i had bloods done two weeks ago. Get amnitop numbing cream, that meant i didnt feel a thing. I took earphones in with me so i couldnt hear a thing and looked out the window whilst laid down. I promise you I am totally and utterly over it now, i have even had another blood test. The technology these days means it literally took 10 seconds to take 4-5 vials of blood from me, its super super fast.

I tended to not think about it in the lead up to the appointment, i pushed it to the back of my mind until the very time of the appt. i told my midwife how i felt and she totally reassured me and now im fine with it.

Trust in yourself, you will conquer itSmile

They really aren't painful, just a scratch. Deep breaths and don't look, you'll be fine.
