1cm dilated at sweep?

Hi,

FTM here, 40 weeks today. Just got back from my sweep she said I’m 1cm dilated, and from what I can read with the terrible handwriting she has said cervix posterior, effacing, soft, membranes intact.

The sweep was uncomfortable but over quickly, does anyone have any success stories of sweeps in a similar situation? Not feeling any cramps so far and it’s been an hour..

I never had anything happen after a sweep, think it's common to be 1-2cm dilated for quite a while at the end of pregnancy, probably not what you want to hear sorry Smile

I was the same as you. It took 2 more sweeps and another week before things happened. Don't lose heart. Keep doing the other recommended things to get baby moving. It can happen the same day!

My second baby...i had a sweep and I was 1-2cm. I lost my plug that evening and contractions started the next morning...i def think it was the sweep. I have had others that did nothing.

I had a sweep with identical comments and the following day I had a baby! Felt nothing for ages then suddenly went into a fast labour.

But she ‘flicked’ my cervix round - she said she couldn’t do the sweep otherwise. So I don’t really understand how you can have a posterior cervix and have had a sweep. But I’m not a midwife so I genuinely don’t understand a lot about childbirth.

I was 2cm dilated at my sweep and baby was born 36 hours later!

I only had half a sweep because I found it uncomfortable at 11am on a Friday. The period type pains started in the afternoon and by 9pm my waters broke and contractions started properly. Baby born at 6.30pm the next day. Good luck xx

I was 4cm at my sweep. I had no idea what this meant at the time and trundled off to a colleagues leaving do at the pub that evening Grin Things kicked off the following morning fortunately and he was born about 36 hours after the sweep.

Hopefully it will get thing moving for you but if not just try and remember that in the grand scheme of things you won't have long to wait for your baby Smile

Well it’s been 24 hours and didn’t get even one niggle, looks like a fail to me! Just praying he comes along soon I don’t want to be induced
