Hi all. 31 weeks and had BH for weeks but they have ramped up the last few days. I’ve called MAU and been told to monitor for next two hours and phone back. Had 4 in 40 mins so far but some associated with very sharp pain low down. Never had this with my first.
Anyone any experience of this and it turned out to be normal?

You need to phone the maternity ward and go in to get checked out, we can’t diagnose you over the internet unfortunately!

Braxton hicks shouldn’t be painful, so you do need to go get check out.

I've had loads of these, and they're bloody uncomfortable, especially the fanny pain.
I'm 34 weeks with 2nd, I figure it's just my body practicing. Although they're uncomfortable they're nowhere near as painful as proper contractions.

I did phone maternity assessment unit (MAU) before posting ...Hmm I was told to monitor. Just wondered if anyone had been through similar as this is a new one to me compared to last time.
scaredofthecity I think they are probably just something to live with for the next 9 weeks 😩 but Some have been so painful I’ve had to do a bit of breathing and making me wonder. Phoning back now so will see what Maternity say.

Let us know what they say, they should ask you in to monitor you and check you’re not in premature labour. Good luck OP.

Some of mine have been like that as well. It's obviously bollocks that Braxton hicks can't be painful, mine didn't get that memo! I'm sure I read somewhere that BH are quite often worse 2nd time round.
Fingers crossed that's just what it is.

Thanks betty. Got asked to come in. Went on monitor and baby happy and dancing away. It it did pick up tightenings, so waiting to see Dr. They’re very busy so I may be some time Sad. Hopefully it’s just BH. If it is I’ll have to learn to ignore them. Could be a long 9 weeks ahead.

I’m nearly 33 weeks and had ‘fanny pain’ Grin this week at work, I put it down to pressure on the area after being sat lent forward in my office chair for too long, as it went away after I got up and went for a walk.

I’ve had horrible back ache on and off for a few days too.

TheBananaStand2 · 24/03/2018 05:43

Yes! Me! Discovered that it happens when I squash bump lying down, or sitting too far forward, or when standing at sink/ kitchen counter. If I lie down on one side, put pillow between knees and keep body and legs quite straight it eases up; or sit quite reclined - anything that stretches out bump and pelvis. But anyone getting these should also talk to midwife/ antenatal just in case. They monitored me and all was fine. For me they think it’s BHs plus ligament pain. Feels like electric shocks sometimes! Hope you feel better soon, OP.

For four weeks before I was eventually induced!

But you still need to get yourself checked out OP

readysetcake · 24/03/2018 06:45

Thanks the replies ladies. Eventually seen yesterday and no early labour just strong BH, thankfully. Though I’m really not Looking forward to the next 9ish weeks if they keep up with the same intensity. But I’ve read around and saw drinking water until you’re going to burst can help. So on a mission to drink as much as I can today. Will just have to make sure I don’t stray far from a toilet at all times!

Glad everything is ok OP! I’ve heard that about dehydration as well, I try to drink loads as well! Good luck with everything.

readysetcake · 25/03/2018 09:01

Thanks @bettydraper31 I tried to drink more yesterday and did have less. I Just find it so hard to drink the recommended amount!
