We are really struggling with DD2s name. Plenty of time but last time with DD1 i already had her name picked out by now. We always liked Waverly but we had a few negative comments so OH now hates it. I wanted something uncommon and a bit of an old name. DD1 is Esmè and when we chose her name it wasn't very popular but now is. We like Willa but we are getting lots of negative comments on that name as well. Whats your opinion on Willa? I think what ever name we pick someones goimg to have something to say.

Stop telling other people your name choices, I regret sharing some of mine as everyone had an opinion. Was so annoying, my friend told no one her choices until her DD was born and she's done the same with her DS that's due in May. People won't be able to say anything once it's a chosen name when born, then you can have what you like.

I'm not keen on Willa personally, but as it's not my baby, that doesn't really matter! If you love it, use it.

Suggestions:

Greta
Margot
Maren
Cassia
Viola
Audrey
Lucia
Marvel
Isolde

That should say Maeve, not Marvel! Blush

No love for the American author Willa Cather (1873-1947) here? Death comes for the Archbishop? O Pioneers? My Antonia?

Anyway, if you and DH like the name Willa, go for it!

Willa no sorry OP. Willow is nice though or Winnie

SueGeneris · 23/03/2018 16:53

I actually do like Willa. Makes me think of Willa Cather and also Willa in Tell Me Something Happy Before I Go To Sleep.

To me it sounds quite classical and elegant.

grasspigeons · 23/03/2018 16:53

I like Willa - it wouldn't raise any eyebrows anyway

Winifred, wilhemenia or Billie, Beverley

I live not to far from a place called Waverley so it just reminds me of the local authority but its a nice name

Notproudofthisone · 23/03/2018 17:04

Esme and Penelopea, pea or penny for short

SpikeGilesSandwich · 23/03/2018 20:04

I know a Wallis always makes me think of Wallace and Gromit tbh but they like it.
How about:
Alma
Enid
Etta
Doreen
Mavis
Gwen/ Gwendoline?

Gorgeous and classy.
And it goes nicely with Esme.

Waverley is the name of a council in Surrey.
Everley is nicer
Not keen on Willa, Willow is much prettier.

IceBearRocks · 24/03/2018 07:36

I love Willa too and it goes so well with Esme!
Go with your gut. We called DD Cleo and everyone dissed it...but she is very much a Cleo!

SamanthaH92 · 24/03/2018 08:09

I do love Willa but i also don't want to look back in 5 years time and think why did we call her that 🙈.
