Best way to announce pregnant to husband

Opinions please. Having been 5 days late for AF and taken a positive pregnancy test I was going to announce the news to my husband in two days time, on his birthday. I have wrapped up a little box with the positive test stick inside for him to open. Theres a football babygrow underneath it and a message saying, "Another player for team "surname" due to arrive November". Now thinking this might not be the best idea. Should I just buy another test and tell him tomorrow that a might be pregnant so he can share the experience of finding out with me? With ds1 we had been trying for ages so I took tests early every month... this first time round, I got a positive whilst he was at work. I wrote a message on the cats collar, saying big "sister to be" to announce the news to him.

Aw tell him tomorrow so he can find out with you. I had all these ideas about how to tell my husband but I was so excited I just showed him the test as soon as I'd done it !!

I think it's weird to keep it to yourself for even 10 minutes let alone days. Definitely don't pretend you don't already know either
Just do the wrapped up babygro thing immediately if you really want to make a big announcement.

I think that's a really sweet idea and would make his birthday extra special. Go for it!

I agree, I have just had my bfp, I was at work and I text my husband immediately. There is no way I could have waited.
I don’t think you can pretend you don’t know, I don’t know why you would tbf.
But, like you way, everyone is different.

I did the box thing the first time. I had a suspicion I was pregnant so bought a box at the same time as the test. Then as soon as I'd done the test i popped it in the box and gave it to him (woke him up). Second time he was at work so when he got home I gave him a lentil. He was so confused until I explained it was the size of our baby. This time (again he was asleep in bed), I put a toy loaf of bread into a toy oven and gave it go him. He found it hilarious.

I couldn't wait though but each to their own. I quite like your first idea.

I think that's a lovely idea and will make a pretty unique birthday present! With DD2 I put a peanut (in a shell) in a box and wrapped it up 😂

Thanks ladies, have decided to tell husband in the morning. I'm going to say that I think I'm pregnant and we can take the test together. Btw the reason I took the test alone is that I have pcos, very irregular cycles of between 24 to 34 days and didn't experience any early symptoms with last pregnancy, I wouldn't have any idea that I was pregnant if I didn't test. I didn't want to give husband false hope every month whilst we were ttc, he would think I was crazy if I called him to the bathroom to test every month or so, just in case! Anyway I started to feel sick the other day and wondered whether it was due to the sickness bug that's been going around or something more. The first time I've experienced morning sickness and it's not pleasant. It took so long to conceive first baby now the second one has come about after only 3 months of trying. Our little family will be complete in November 😊

I wouldn't pretend I didn't know personally. I waited till hubby got home from worth both times but if it had been his birthday in a day or so then I would have waited till then maybe but please don't pretend you don't know as I would be so hurt if it were the other way around (I realise biologically this is impossible!!!!) X

I found out 2 days before xmas and waited!

I wrapped up the sticks and put in gift bag...gave as last pressie and he burst into tears. He didnt have a second thought about the fact I knew before him and loved the little surprise I did for him.

I would stick with you plan but maybe just give it to him at next available time, and say like earlier pressie you can't wait until his bday! xx

I wouldn’t lie and act like you don’t know, what’s the point in that? If you want to give him the box just do it as an early birthday present type thing. I just texted DH.. second time he insisted on being there when i did the test, but I wouldn’t have faked a testing scenario to achieve it?!

I think the box idea is great.. maybe an early birthday present tho? Heres a special present befote your birthday kinda thing

I think pretending you don't already know and doing another test is a bit weird.

I must admit I also think it's weird. It all seems a bit contrived and not very natural. But as you say whatever floats your boat.

Awww OP i think the gift on his birthday is a great idea if you can keep your mouth shut until then. I get that you may want to talk about it sooner. Congrats xx

My hubbie is away and I found out last Sunday morning (the first day he was away) that I was pregnant. I haven't told anyone yet and have somehow managed to keep it to myself. I do feel like I might explode.

I have bought a babygrow with 'I'm going to be a big brother' on it for our son to wear when the hubby gets home tomorrow!

Just tell him you tested and it was positive. Don't lie to him FFS.

Decided on the original idea in the end... Our toddler took him a little box adressed to daddy and I said that it was an early birthday present he could open now. He was thrilled when he saw the positive test. 😊
