I don't feel so sick anymore and it scares me

I am 8.6 wks pregnant and in the last couple of days my morning sickness (well nausea really), which was lasting from mid morning to bedtime, has died down. This had coincided with me getting a pretty bad cold so i feel under the weather anyway but it just feels different.

I am trying not to get too worried but can't help it as i suffered a missed mc in January and am terrified of the same thing happening again (although that time my morning sickness lasted right up to 12 weeks). I have one DS and again i had morning sickness right up to 12/13 wks.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance.

I did Nanoon

Have been pg twice and both were v different to each other.

With DD felt nausea up to about 9 weeks, with DS - for aaages

CorrieDale · 08/05/2007 20:55

It was different for me, too. With DS I was sick all the time up to 11/12 weeks. With this one, I was sick for a few days, then ok for a few days. It lasted for 14 weeks, so it all averaged out.

Can you get an early scan?

Chattyhan · 08/05/2007 20:58

I didn't really suffer with morning sickness with either of my pregnancys - just felt absolutely exhausted. If you're really worried that somethings wrong speak to your gp and ask for a referral to your Early Pregnancy Unit. They will be able to reassure you.

Yes - has morning sickness really badly for weeks on end and then would disappear for a while and then come back again with a vengeance!

Nanoon · 08/05/2007 21:02

No, I can't get a scan until 12 wks unless i have blleding. I haven't mentioned it to my midwife as its all abit complicated. We are off on holiday on Friday and if there is any bad news to be had i would rahter wait until then (12 wks scan due just after we get back)as that is exactly what happended with my missed mc. I had a nucal scan 5 days before we were due to go away at the beginning of feb (we are not jet setters, trust me!) and we had to delay our hols as it took ages for me to get a slot for a D and C and i can't face all that again, all the disruption and disappointment.

I think what ever happens I am in for a nail biting 3 weeks.

Hi Nanoon,

I send you bags of support, I had a mc before christmas, and am now 13 weeks pg- those first 12 were so stressful. I felt horribly sick until week 9, then, like you I got a cold and it stopped dead for 2 weeks. And then it came back with a vengeance, and I wished I'd enjoyed the break from it more, rather than worrying! Literally all of my friends have reported sickness coming and going, just try to stay positive, every chance has it this time you will be absolutely fine. You'll get there x

Nanoon · 08/05/2007 22:05

thanks all, its reassuring to know that others have been through it aswell, i'll sit it out and keep hoping for the best.

Wishing you loads of luck too Ladypanda.
x

Every pg is different. With ds I felt sick lierally once, for 2 minutes, at about 8 weeks. With dc2 I had mild nausea, not constantly, from about 7 to 11 weeks, and then threw up once at 14 weeks. I had 2 mc before this pregnancy and one before ds, and I know how agonising those early weeks are, but sickness/lack thereof is not a reliable guide to anything. hang in there and good luck.

Caz10 · 09/05/2007 17:43

Nanoon I'm sure everthing will be ok, although I know how you feel, if I stop feeling sick for anymore than half an hour I panic, when I should really just enjoy the break.

So sorry about your missed m/c it is something I am terrified of. Did you still go on feeling sick even past the date they said you must have miscarried? Please don't answer if it's too personal.

ladypanda · 10/05/2007 14:57

You could always consider a private scan if it is really driving you out of your mind, we had that at 10 and I have to say it made me feel so much calmer. The other thing I did was to focus on non- baby plans for beyond the 12 weeks, redecoration, holiday etc, it passed the time if nothing else! Either way lots of positive calming vibes x

Nanoon · 10/05/2007 19:34

Caz10, yes i felt sick right up until 3 days before my nuchal scan at 12 weeks and the woman who did the scan said she thought the baby died at about 9.5 wks. Nature can be so cruel and it took a good few weeks for my body to go back to normal, boobs where huge and that was very hard.

We are off on holiday tomorrow for 2 weeks and i have scans book for the week after we get back. I'm going to try and put the worry out of my mind and enjoy some tim ewith DH and DS but an the same time i'm terrified something will happen while we are away.
