Total shock pregnancy. Worried about cervix

We found out last month we both have fertility issues and would need ivf. Imagine my shock this morning when I realised af was 6 days late and got a vvbfp!

I am so happy but also worried the test is wrong (I’m waiting for my lunch break to buy another one)
But also my cervix is super low and hard and open which I know it’s not meant to be so i am worried something is wrong. Dr can’t get me in for 2 weeks. Does anyone else have a low open cervix?

MY understanding is that the cervix very slowly moves up during the first months of pregnancy. So this wouldn’t bother me at all unless I was experiencing bleeding and cramping.

My cervix was always low and hard in early pregnancy. As pp said it tended to move upwards gradually as the pregnancy progressed. Probably best not to poke at it too much though...

Firstly, wow, congratulations! Flowers

Your cervix will do all kinds of random things over the next few months because of all the pregnancy hormones and it won't relate to what you may be familiar with from checking before you were pregnant - open does not mean you are about to have a period any more, low does not relate to how fertile you might be and it can vary massively from hour to hour. It will probably get higher, but perhaps not a lot and perhaps not until well into the second trimester. Basically, it is no longer a reliable indicator of anything! Well at least not until you are well into the third trimester and overdue...

I would just leave it alone, especially if it is already worrying you. Honestly, it's ok for you to enjoy the fact that you have gotten pregnant and not worry unless you get very clear worrying symptoms like bleeding or severe pain that should be checked out.

Just to warn you, I had period like cramps (but worse than my period) around this time in both PGs and on and off until about 10 weeks. I think it's quite common and not a problem as long as there is no blood or very severe pain. Pregnancy is often sore and crampy.

thank you all so much. I did a cb digi at lunch and it is definite pregnant 2-3 weeks. I'm in a state of shock and cant stop looking at the tests. this time last week I was having a breakdown thinking I would never be a mum. its a miracle.
