Booking In Appointment Today - What Happens?

I have my booking in appointment today.
I'm 10 wks. It's the first time I'll have seen anyone about being pregnant. I understand they will ask me a lot of questions but what else will happen?
Being 10 weeks will I have to give a blood sample and urine sample?
I read screening had to be done within a certain window of opportunity that is after 8 wks - will I give blood for screening at this stage? do they want spare blood for something else?
I was given a pot when I went to collect a 'pregnancy pack' from the doctors.
Is first pee of the day best or does it not matter?
Wish I had more idea of what is going on!!

When my daughter had hers recently, it was her/family history (Inc her boyfriends), wee sample and also would have been bloods (she was unsuccessful with this).

Good luck Flowers

Yeah you will have to do a urine sample and they will take a little blood from you. They will ask you some routine questions about your own health/family health and questions about your partners health - only to see if there is anything that may flag up for the baby (genetic conditions)
They get you to fill in a few bit of paperwork and my midwife sat and uploaded it all to her computer while she was here (she came to our home for the booking in appointment)
That’s it really - nothing to worry about!

It's just to establish family history and how you're feeling about your pregnancy - do you have support etc. You'll have a carbon monoxide test (just a quick breath test) and blood pressure, weight, urine, bloods. It took about 45 minutes.

Great, thank you for your responses!

I never had a carbon monoxide test and I wasn’t weighed either.... so maybe it’s slightly different around the country? Either way, it’s all just routine stuff!!!

YorkieDorkie · 22/03/2018 11:01

Perhaps! @MammaH2018
I wish I wasn't weighed 🙈

LucyLou19 · 22/03/2018 11:08

Medical History about you and other half, urine sample, blood sample, weigh you xx

MammaH2018 · 22/03/2018 11:22

😁 I was only weighed once during my entire pregnancy and that was at my 12 week scan, when they took blood from me afterwards for the genetic screening. I’m 12 weeks PP now and not brave enough to see how much I weigh now!!!!!

Lucky you! I damn near broke the scales at 36 weeks 😂🙈🙈🙈🙈
