Bio Oil - safe to use?

I just used a sample of Bio Oil on my bump stretch marks and it smelt really lovely! I’m sure it is safe to use but wondered if anyone had heard otherwise? I’m only asking as I read contains vitamin A which isn’t advised to take during pregnancy...Confused

Totally fine in fact it's recommended

MissYeti · 21/03/2018 13:52

Its fine to use during pregnancy, the leaflet in the normal bottles says to use it from first trimester :) I think the amount of bit A absorbed through the skin would be minimal and not really anything to worry about!

NooNooHead · 21/03/2018 13:53

Thank you both! I did think I was over-analysing it a bit! 😂

Yes use it I love bio oil

hungryhass · 21/03/2018 16:16

Yes - safe to use. Try to use 2-3 times a day for better results! Don’t get lazy like I did! Grin

Absolutely fine I used it with ds2 amd dd2 and had minimal stretch marks didn't use it with dd3 and my stomach looks like an elephants backside Blush (could have been coincidence though)

WhenEnoughIsEnough · 21/03/2018 16:19

Meant to say ds1

Tattybogle89 · 21/03/2018 16:23

AFter 12 weeks it’s safe as per instructions
Fades stretch marks but doubt it stops them appearing. I used in pregnancy one and got a few stretch marks. Used it more in pregnancy 2 and it faded the old stretch marks but I still got plenty new ones.
Can’t harm to keep skin supple tho

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 21/03/2018 16:23

Worked for me - I've got very stretchmark-prone skin but anywhere I Bio-oiled stayed stretch mark-free throughout all my pregnancies.

Tattybogle89 · 21/03/2018 16:30

I think for everyone who said it worked for prevention of stretch marks, there will be someone who it didn’t work for. It’s all genetics unfortunately. I slapped it on 3 times a day and added it to my bath etc and suddenly the stretch marks appeared .
You can’t control just how far your skin will pull and stretch marks happen deep in the skin before you see them on the surface. It sucks though

Bellamuerte · 21/03/2018 16:51

I didn't use it during pregnancy as nobody could confirm 100% that it was safe and I wasn't willing to risk my baby's health just for the chance to save myself a few stretch marks.

Kpo58 · 21/03/2018 17:13

As long as you don't drink the bio oil or drizzle it on your salads, I can't see an issue with using it.

AyeAyeFishyPie · 21/03/2018 17:29

Yep - just don’t have it as shots!

FranticallyPeaceful · 21/03/2018 17:52

Used it like 3 times a day with my pregnancies and it never stopped stretchmarks just made me very greasy. I think every bodies just different though. Used a more expensive stretch mark deterrent last time and this time and had zero stretchmarks

FranticallyPeaceful · 21/03/2018 17:52

(Again, probably nothing to do with what I’m using)

SomeKnobend · 21/03/2018 17:55

I used an absolute shit load of it daily for my first pregnancy. Cost a bloody fortune and did precisely nothing! I got plenty of stretch marks.

SpringHen · 21/03/2018 17:55

I found it rubbish for stretch marks. A regular thicker creamy body lotion worked much better for me.

Its safe so long as you dont drink it op
