I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant I have a gender scan booked for the 22nd of April however I’m wondering if there’s any symptoms/ old wives tales about how to tell the gender. I know the gender can’t be told yet I’m just looking for “fun” ways of maybe trying to guess thanks ☺️ xxx

Sorry to be a total arse, but it’s sex, not gender.

I think there are some old wives tales about how sick you feel, but I can’t remember.

Aren’t you supposed to hold a ring on a string in front of your belly or something?

Many congrats by the way! It’s the start of a wonderful adventure.

I never used to believe In old wives tales but quite a few of them have been correct for me
Such as cravings and carrying different for a boy and a girl!

There's a few websites which have the lists!
Have you done the Chinese calendar?

All abit of fun of course!!

If you have your 12 week scan photo, nub theory was correct for me.

No it's all bollocks. I had the classic cravings, bump shape etc for a girl - even after the 20 week scan where we found out we were having a boy some people still thought he would turn out to be a girl because of my symptoms and that the scan was wrong. Nope, DS is definitely a boy! It's all nonsense!

More sickness and HG is associated with having a girl.

So is weight gain on the face, being spottier and sweet cravings. I had a girl 7 months ago and was very sick, had clear skin and was less hairy and smoother softer skin. My two friends had baby girls around when I did and their symptoms were totally the opposite so I decided there is little to no truth in them!

The Chinese calendar was correct for me (50% chance so...).

It is fun to guess though. Try some quizzes online. I tried loads and they were usually undecided or favouring a boy! The gender scan will soon be here and that's usually highly accurate! Good luck with your pregnancy xx

I did the ring over belly - said girl
Had sweet cravings which supposedly meant girl
Got a few spots which means girl
And did the chinese gender test online which said girl.

I had my 20 week scan last week and it's a boy Grin Smile

I just googled ways to tell unborn babys sex etc - clearly none of them worked for me though LOL

I have a boy and a girl. I carried quite differently to each, the wrong way round to the old wives tale

Craving crust of bread = boy
Soft bread = girl
Weight over hips = girl
Bump in front = boy
Hotter than normal = girl
Colder than normal = boy
Bad sickness = girl
Slight or no sickness = boy
