Brown spotting 4 weeks pregnant

Hi I just found out I'm pregnant last night just 4 weeks if even. Unfortunately I've also had 3 miscarriages before but I've also two small children too. I'm on aspirin and progesterone for this pregnancy. I told my husband I was pregnant and all he's told me is don't get too excited which I understand. Tonight I started spotting brown and have cramping so I'm worried sick. My husband has basically told me my lines weren't that strong anyway and there's nothing they can do this early which I also know is true. The problem I have is he's sitting here beside me laughing and joking watching tv and I'm worried sick. Just need a little vent. I've never had implantation bleeding before but bled around 30 weeks on both the children I gave birth to.

Hi Freya85 - just stopping in to say hi and that you're not alone. I'm 5 weeks +3 tomorrow and have had some spotting. I've got real anxiety issues (have just gone cold turkey on a high dose of anti anxiety meds as soon as I found out - so am particularly up and down this time around!)
It's bloody terrifying and the unknown is just awful. I LOVE being pregnant, but the first trimester is pretty rough for so many reasons.
I have been doing a lot of reading and quite a few people have suggested that brownish blood suggests that it is old blood and therefore not necessarily indicative of an early mc. I don't know how true that is though - but its a nice thought!
I saw my GP today and he has referred me straight back to my mental health midwife I was under with my last pregnancy - both GP and midwife were really reassuring about the spotting too. They said that apparently it's more common to have those symptoms with subsequent pregnancies (I had no spotting at all with the first).
I'm now thinking about possibly getting an early scan, just for some peace of mind. Might the same help you?
Best of luck with everything!

I had spotting with my 4th dc at 4 weeks, and a massive bleed at 16 weeks - really thought I'd lost the baby - he's now 7 and asleep next to me. Didn't bleed at all with the other 3. Hope it settles down and everything goes well.

I had brown spotting at 4 weeks and some pink when wiping. It was implantation bleeding and the rest of the pregnancy has been fine with no bleeding (26 weeks now) I also had cramping at the same time as the spotting.
I didnt have any of that with my first.
According to my midwife though cramping and brown spotting at 4 weeks is very common and usually implantation bleeding.
Of course there is always a chance you may be miscarrying but I think from what you say its much more likely to be implantation bleeding in this case.
Just tell your midwife about it asap and try to remain calm because it is probably just implantation.

Thanks everyone the bleeding stopped that night and I've no more since. Fingers crossed it amazes me how each pregnancy differs though :-)
