Recommendations: small car with big boot?

We have bought the Recaro travel system which has the following folded dimensions: 40 x 60 x 73 cm plus the cot part.

We have a biggish family car but DH uses it for work so I'm looking for a smaller second car that will fit the pram in the boot and may be used 2-3 times a week. Does anyone have any recommendations? We're looking for a second hand car, nothing brand new.

Following. My Peugeot had a fab boot but spent most of its life on the recovery truck so would t recommend!

From my experience Ford Fiestas have reasonably sized boots. Or a Focus of you can stretch the budget - especially if you get an estate.
We've got a 10yo Cmax that we've had for 5 years now and it's been great with very few issues (will probably die tomorrow after posting this!)

@Icklepickle101 Peugeot's come up often when I've looked for smaller cars with big boots but my friend has had nightmares with her's too so told me definitely not to get one!

@Icklepickle101 DH thinks I should lean more towards a Fiesta than a Focus - he thinks it'd be better for me and my very shoddy parking! I'll just have to be the crazy person who takes their pram to any test drives.

Ha just try the pram in any cars you look at, I doubt you'll be the first one Smile

Ford Fusion is a good halfway between fiesta and focus! Or a Honda jazz

my peugot 308 has been great. Small for parking, big boot, can squeeze 3 car seats in back if needed. Now 10 years old and done 140k miles and rarely have a problem.

It was 1 year old when we got it and a bit better than basic model. Also my dh looks after it with servicing, oil changes etc so I assume that has helped.

I had a Honda Jazz. Huge boot - I could get a travel system and half a dozen bags of shopping in. It was a really reliable car and very economical - I'd recommend it.

JamMakingWannaBe · 19/03/2018 21:23

My 3-door Fiesta had a big boot. My Dad’s 5-door boot is TINY!
Hyundai i20 or ix20, Polo or Honda Jazz.

Astra or golf or jazz. Have also owned several Peugeot, exhausts didn't seem to like staying attached!

Fakingit36 · 20/03/2018 00:25

Honda Fit (called jazz in U.K.) here too. Excellent car - amazing capacity but small.

INeedNewShoes · 20/03/2018 00:27

I've got a Honda Jazz. It's great and easily fits our all terrain travel system in the boot.

ineedaholidaynow · 20/03/2018 00:41

If you are going for a second hand car a Skoda Roomster has a large boot and spacious interior. Also has large windows in the back so could for little people to see out.

BikeRunSki · 20/03/2018 00:47

Skoda Fabia Estate - it’s a really small estate. Basically a Fabia with a big boot. It was perfect when I was carting round an off road buggy.

Thelampshadelady · 20/03/2018 00:52

I’m on my 3rd Peugeot in 13 years. First 2 were bangers and the current one I bought at 2 years old. All have been brilliant cars. I’ve currently got the 308. Has a huge boot space, plenty of room for pram, shopping and extra junk.

Loosemoose28 · 20/03/2018 06:22

I loved my skoda fabia estate, it really isn’t that big. But the boot for it was amazing.

Only got rid of it as we wanted bigger as dogs and pram would have been to tight in boot.

I did have a newish focus (12 plate) and it was horrendous to park, my sister is a paramedic and said it was more tricky than an ambulance!

redavocado · 20/03/2018 08:59

Following as I think we'll finally be getting a car this year!

Does anyone have an Auris? Any thoughts on the boot size?

BlueRaincoat89 · 20/03/2018 21:26

Thanks everyone - we'll definitely check out the Honda Jazz's, they seem ideal.
